  1. Ugh, kind of stuck right now. I bought the front clip and was promised fenders but he only has JDM outback fenders. Can't find JDM facelift fenders anywhere, any suggestions?!
  2. Nice, so I'm guessing you got the control unit that's in the engine bay too? How well does the auto leveling unit work? I do a lot of road trip on hilly roads and would enjoy the beam auto-leveling like it does on my BMW. Do you feel it auto-levels fast enough?
  3. Thanks. I'll go with the manual leveling in that case then
  4. Would getting the front and rear leveling sensors + pigtails & the switch in the car be enough? Is there a separate ECU running this system?
  5. yes thats an actual photo, I just assumed it had washers because its from a 3.0R premium. Fenders are included but from another car of course; fenders are JDM specific right?
  6. What did I get myself into with this impulse buy? JDM 3.0R premium front cut (hid, leveling). I have a SWP 05 LGT wagon with DRL deleted. Is the headlight wiring straight forwards? What about the additional features? Anything I should know before going into it? edit: no washers
  7. PMed you about headlight wiring. Did you figure it out?
  8. Thanks this helps greatly. Im having troubles specifically sourcing the actual connector for the 2 pin avcs solenoid. What timing belt kit did you use for this engine?
  9. I forgot to ask. How did you wire the exhaust avcs exactly? 4 wires per side (total of 8), that run continuously from the sensors to the ECU? Or did you tap into the main block connector for the engine harness above the turbo?
  10. Thanks for the info @texy32! Just wondering, what is your source of information about the U20 head design? Would you say this is the best 2L head design under the W20 JDM STI heads? @mtnbikeman123 and @texy32, your information alone has helped me get the better engine and hopefully some great results. I anticipate finishing my swap by the end of this week. I will be posting a build thread after that is finished on this forum.
  11. Thanks for the info guys!! My LGT was previously owned by a forum member here. I'll be detailing my swap in my own thread. I almost bought a ej20x until I saw this thread and read about your experience with the u20 head. Very unique circumstances that you were able to run, tune and drive with both motors!
  12. Bump. Very good to hear the updated U20 heads allow for more timing compared to the z20. My tuner told me to not swap the z20-ej20x because it can't take any timing. I am considering the hassle of swapping in a U20-ej20x into an older gen 05 LGT. Asides swapping cam sensors (3 pin to 2 pin), do you see it requiring any additional wiring changes?
  13. The true source of the ringland issue is the piston ring gap. An OEM shortblock that is regapped and spec'd is totally reliable. ASF machine has redone several now and I know of one that is pushing 400whp for 50,000 miles trouble free.
  14. Little off topic, what coilovers are you running now? Still have those ohlins for sale?
  15. Wow thanks for sharing! JDM GD STI Impreza all had solid mount rear subframe. No bushings whatsoever. A great upgrade that doesn't really add any nvh but makes a solid difference. I'm wanting to do this to my LGT as well!
  16. How are the ohlins? Didn't see your update, when did you get those? What were you upgrading from? You're lgt is perfect! I have similar goals (I.e. jdm bumper, ohlins etc).
  17. Any updates regarding the tuning? Interested how this engine performs on pump being a high compression motor
  18. I haven't been able to get into it. Are you using ECU flash? Is there a definition for that ECU specifically? Your help would be appreciated!
  19. I don't believe open source works for the jdm ECU, will you be using the usdm ECU? ^ agreed e85 would be an awesome option. These motors have great mpg, spool and performance when given the right fuel
  20. Incredible build, amazing attention to detail and no short cuts taken! So you're using the jdm ej20y, yes? You will be using the jdm ecu then too (to control dual avcs)? These motors in my experience are problematic for North American markets. Locally we have 94 octane and even that wasn't enough for the high compression nature of the ej20y, ultimately resulting in less than satisfactory hp figures. Lots of timing had to be removed to prevent detonation. Just a heads up!
