  1. CBS 5th Gen headed up 95N (north of Topsfield) yesterday evening around 5:15. I was headed south, so only got a quick glance... anyone here?
  2. NEEDZ MOAR GAUGEZ! Ha ha, just playin'... Looks good man!
  3. I didn't spot him, but clearly Ian was checking out my big beautiful backside sometime yesterday! But he didn't leave the digits...
  4. Most people are adding a thicker rear sway bar to eliminate some of the understeer that comes standard on the car... It will also add some stability in the corners, and help the car track straighter (less susceptible to being blown around, or wandering on the road). I don't think anyone will run a thicker bar in the front without going thicker in the back as well! I am not certain, but I think the OEM front is 26mm? Or maybe 24mm? Someone will chime in with exact numbers, but I'm almost certain that 22mm is thinner than OEM. I have OEM in the front, and 20mm adjustable (set to 21mm setting) in the rear... I would recommend going at least that thick in the rear... maybe even thicker, but that's up to you.
  5. Cause we're black?! That'sRacist.gif! (i'm at work, can't find the gif on a site that's not blocked)
  6. Interesting... well than there's a 3rd black 5th Gen in our area, completely debadged in the back... Anyone on here?!
  7. xVietxFatex, are you totally debadged and driving through Wellington Circle around 5:20pm yesterday evening? Spotted a debadged 5th Gen (couldn't see the grill to see if it was '10-'12 or '13+) there/then, and thought it might be you... tried to get your attention with a few throttle blips, but didn't want to cause a scene with my diesel sounding exhaust!
  8. Yup, I survived... unfortunately the battle was won by rust/corrosion on the bolts, so the end links haven't been swapped yet... Hopefully get to it this weekend (with a breaker bar and some more PB blaster)!
  9. Mine's also black, and I drive around a fair amount... drive through Wellington Circle every weekday evening around 6. I shouldn't be hard to spot... there aren't too many 5th Gens with hood scoops!
  10. Spotted a couple yesterday... Saw either an OBXT or Legacy GT wagon yesterday around 6pm at the Allston/Brighton exit off of the Mass Pike, don't remember what color... Was next to you in traffic, but couldn't catch your eye (and the girl I was with thought I was being weird ) Also merged onto Route 2 (near Lanes and Games) behind a Garnet Red 4th Gen GT, a bit after 6pm... car looked nice and clean! Right on, I'm in Ten Hills, so real close to you! I'll keep my eyes peeled for your ride... what color?
  11. Installation guide/tips for STi shifter up: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/5th-gen-lgt-performance-mods-202211.html
  12. A quick write-up of my recent experience installing the STi short throw shifter... The majority of the install can be found in the linked PDF I have attached, but there are a few details I found while doing the install that I thought were worth mentioning... First of all, I recommend doing this project either on a lift, or with all 4 tires off the ground (either 4 jack stands, or 2 jack stands and 2 ramps, which is how I did it). The reason for this is because the shifter assembly is pretty close to the center of the car, so having everything up in the air will ensure you have enough room to work. It's probably possibly to do it with just the front in the air, but I'd recommend getting all 4 tires up. Secondly, it is unnecessary to remove the exhaust pipes that you are working near. Obviously you should do this when the car has been sitting for awhile, otherwise you risk burning yourself on the pipes, but there's enough room to get to all the bolts and nuts without removing the pipe. Next, if you're following the PDF (and you probably should), after step 10 there's a few pieces they left out. Your goal is to remove the cover cable assembly that bolts up to the car from underneath. In order to do this, you need to pull the gear select cable and the gear shift lever from the assembly. These are held into the assembly by way of some tight aluminum clips that gave me some problems in removal. You can see one of them (the other is identical) in the 3rd and 4th pictures I linked to. You have to pull the clips down (towards the ground) so that you can slide the cable/lever out of the assembly. Not too hard, but not described in the PDF. Finally, when inside the cabin to remove the gear shift itself, the PDF mentions removing the console box (the plastic around the gear shift, the cupholders, the change holder, the seat warmers, and some of the plastic trim that faces the footwells of the drivers and passengers side. The 6th picture I linked has the locations of all the screws you need to remove circled in red (some are hidden under pieces of the trim, that you need to remove) that need to come out so you can get the gear shift out. There's also some great pics and instructions in this thread: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/need-help-removing-center-console-armrest-155444.html Hopefully that will be helpful for any of you looking to do this install! In general it's a pretty easy job, probably took me about 2 hours, but I was taking my time and ran into a few tricky parts that I had to go research. Once you know what you're doing it can probably be done in about 1 hour. If anyone has any questions, or if anything is unclear, feel free to drop me a PM and I'll try and help you out ASAP. Good luck! MSA5T1004A298142.pdf
  13. White 4th Gen spotted parked on Middlesex Ave in Medford today around 2pm... looked stock, but looked good! Anyone on here? I'm just down the street in Somerville near Assembly Sq.
  14. Thanks buddy! I don't know what "rotate the rear spring perch" means... so hopefully I don't have to do it! I have Whiteline 20mm adjustable (set on stiffest setting)... fingers crossed I'll be ok! If you don't hear from me in the next hour or two, send someone to Somerville with a jack to pull the car off me!
  15. Quick question... putting on the KartBoy RSB end links today... is that best done with the suspension under load (on ramps) or not (jack stands)? Thanks in advance!
  16. Did yours come with broken styrofoam bits stuck to all the grease, like mine did?! I think they maybe should rethink their packing method!
  17. I did the Trans mount/trans bushings in the spring, but didn't have the coin to do the shifter at the same time... this (and Extra S fluids) are the last piece of the puzzle (for now )!
  18. Just received my STi short throw shifter yesterday! Hoping to install it on Saturday!
  19. STi Pedals and ProSports dead pedal installed today! (install guide here: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/5th-gen-legacy-interior-mods-203295.html?p=4567749#post4567749)
  20. Quick install guide for adding the STi aluminum pedals and ProSports aluminum dead pedal. Brake and Clutch: Brake and clutch pedals are very straightforward. Pull off the OEM rubber cover on the two pedals. Slide the STi pedal on from the bottom (there's a clip/hook on the bottom of the pedal that should seat firmly). Put the bracket on the top (behind the pedal) and use the provided bolts (2.5mm hex wrench needed) and nuts (7mm wrench/socket needed) to secure the pedal to the bracket. Nice and easy. Gas Pedal Gas pedal is a little more difficult. BY FAR the easiest route is to simply remove your gas pedal assembly and add the STi pedal while the whole assembly is not bolted to the car. To do this, simply unhook the wiring clip (a pinch/pull clip) at the top (see picture below) and then remove the 2 12mm nuts that hold the assembly to the frame/firewall (again, see pictures below). Once you've removed the assembly, install should be simple. Slide the STi pedal over the OEM one, secure it to the provided bracket with 2 small bolts (2.5mm hex wrench again), slide the long bolt through the holes on the pedal, add the sleeve, cap it off with the 5.5mm capped nut on the other side. Reattach wiring clip, bolt pedal assembly back on using the 2 x 12mm nuts. Done. ProSport Dead Pedal Pretty simple, if a bit tedious. There are 2 push pins that hold the rubber OEM dead pedal in. Use a screwdriver to pry them up a bit, and some pliers to pull them out. The tedious part is removing the OEM rubber dead pedal, as it is glued to the carpet! Annoying. I found that a couple of chisels (pictured below) helped a bit, as well as just some brute force. It's kind of a pain, but not difficult. Once that's out, just put the PS Dead pedal in place, and secure it with the 2 push pins. You MAY want to glue the dead pedal down, but mine seems to be held in place OK with just the pushpins, so I'm not going to do that at this time. YMMV. Whole job shouldn't take more than 30minutes! A little awkward crawling around in the footwell on the drivers side, but not a hard job! Good luck!
  21. As shown by SomeZero, online price there is $346!
  22. Yup, after discount, $327.16 including shipping! Can't beat that!
  23. Just ordered mine! 20% off makes it less painful!
  24. Yes, I'm quoting myself. Deal with it. I think this is the right part #... C1010AJ100. Confirmation?
  25. Anyone remember/know the correct STi short shifter (part # or detailed description)? I'm gonna search, but if anyone has that info handy, it'd be greatly appreciated!
