  1. Don't trade in the Syclone. He uses that truck to go really, really fast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_Syclone
  2. I'm disappointed that no one (to my knowledge) has taken a 3.6R and built it into a 3.6ARRR. I'd like to think someone would have fun with the graphics.
  3. There are 2 specific reasons I can think of: 1) So that the bolt that's left in there is flush with the lockdown itself, preventing it from catching on anything that may or may not be in there while the rack itself turns. 2) Since the long bolt is being used to pull the two halves and is under considerable stress, it's prone to be damaged. For instance, I ended up bending mine during installation. So, replacing that with an unused bolt that sits flush is definitely what you'll want. Besides, 90% of the work is squeezing the two halves of the lockdown together with the long bolt. Removing the long bolt and installing the short bolt is easy.
  4. Is there a singular thread somewhere that discusses coilovers? I don't think there is (that I know of), but it's worth asking anyway. With the wheels I have coming, I'm thinking about them a bit more than I otherwise would in order to go with a bit wider tire. What suspensions are "best" for a car is pretty subjective, but since I've never put an aftermarket suspension on a car, I need as much exposure as possible. Also, don't tell my wife.
  5. Yeah, and the edge of the tire is actually even closer than that because 255 is just ever-so-slightly stretched on 9.5 while it's square on 9.
  6. I have absolutely zero concerns about fender clearance. My incoming wheels are 19x9+50. If I hit anything, it'll be the strut. I'm considering running spacers and just get the tire width I want anyway. Or I could go full-on enabling and go with coils, although I'm pretty sure my wife would murder me in my sleep since she knows where I live.
  7. Ok, I'm happy I asked because your build thread just mentions you have coils and makes no distinction that they're not installed yet. Does this mean you're clearing the struts then? I ask because I'm trying to figure out what tire size I want to go with on my 19x9's, so I'm asking just about anyone that's on 19's and 9 inches or wider.
  8. I want to make it a rule. If you're running 9 inch wheels or wider, you should also be mentioning your offset and whether you're on struts or coils. Looks like +40 and coils, right?
  9. Unless I can go out and physically pick up a part (which I can if it's a Perrin part, I suppose), I'd have difficulties sneaking in part orders since my wife stays at home with the offspring and would find any delivery before I do.
  10. When you said cross country, I expected that to still be the US, like the east coast. Not on the other side of the planet
  11. Are you buying something to replace it? When I moved from Mass to Oregon, we ended up shipping both my LGT and my wife's Impreza Premium across as well. There was no way I was going to let my LGT go, but shipping the Impreza was going to cost less long-term than getting rid of it and buying something else.
  12. We have a Ryobi electric weed whacker that works pretty well. I haven't had to use it since selling my house almost 3 years ago, so we're actually considering getting rid of it. I had a gas push mower, but got rid of that too before moving. When we get around to buying another house, I'll be strongly considering electric yard tools.
  13. More or less why I was asking how bright they are. I remember being behind an Infinity coupe of some kind with tinted tails and I very nearly rear-ended him because I visually recognized his car suddenly slowing down as opposed to seeing his brake lights. I had to really look at them to see them. Sure, it looks great. But it's going to look like shit after someone hits him.
  14. I just checked how much clearance my new 225/50 Blizzaks have. Absolutely cannot fit a finger in between the tire and the strut. 255/40 might fit if I had to guess. The new wheels are closer to the strut by 14mm compared to stock, but 225/50 is just a bit wider than the stock wheel so ends up a bit closer to the strut than the wheel does while 255 fits more square on the 9 inch wheel. However, this is just a guestimate based on comparing the tire dimensions on willtheyfit. I have no actual experience for this. I think if I want to go wider than 245, I'll need to be prepared to entertain getting spacers. I'll be getting some eventually anyway so the OEM winters will clear Brembos, but 20mm would put me at +30 which is probably a problem in the other direction. 265/35 might fit with a 10mm spacer. It's only about 4mm closer than what I have now, and a slightly smaller diameter (7mm).
  15. I think Fred had 17's, right? Edit: Found it. Wheels: Enkei RPF1 17x9 5x100 +45 in SBC weighing 15.6# a piece Tires: Falken Azenis 615K 275/40/17 ( tried Nitto NT01 for track use, but Falken was better ) http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/fredrik94087-2013-3-6r-build-list-220862.html?p=4727045
  16. Not really a random thought. Does anyone think a 265/35 or 265/40 would fit on a 19x9 +50? I suspect it might rub the strut but I'm not really sure.
  17. I'm looking at 3 tires right now: Bridgestone S-04 Pole Positions, Michelin Pilot Super Sports, or Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Those seem to be the three best reviewed tires and each have excellent wet traction. The only thing I'm not sure about is size. I'd like to get as wide a tire as possible, but I'm pretty concerned about rubbing on the struts with the 19x9 inch wheel and +50 offset. 255/40 looks pretty square, but I'd ideally like to go a bit wider. I just don't know if 265 would clear.
  18. ^^ Have pictures of your lights on and also with your brake lights? Those look really dark. I had some 225/50/18 Blizzaks installed at Discount Tire. Came with a 100 dollar mail in rebate for President's Day.
  19. Heh, I average 17, but I'm almost never on the highway and when I am, it's a short stretch and not really fast.
  20. When I bought and later sold my house in Massachusetts, my understanding of how commission worked was different. My understanding is that the commission is whatever the agreed commission is and it is split in half between the buying and selling agents. If there's only one agent involved, they get to keep the whole shebang. I don't think you're doing yourself any real favors to skip out on having a buying agent, particularly if you can find a good one invested in your interests. All it does it make it more difficult for you to find houses and get a better handle on comparable house prices while giving the selling agent more money in his/her pocket that will still be rolled into the house cost anyway.
  21. It's pretty easy to convince me to go with a taller tire. At this point, anything that helps protect the rims a bit better is just fine in my book. I suspect 255/40 would be fine, match up well with 225/50 winters, and still be square.
