  1. Well according to his Facebook he's just completed like 20 300zx's turbos... didn't know there was such a desire still? Must be like Christmas for you right now! Glad to see this all coming together - often the yucky part is the waiting.
  2. Since I'm without a car for this four day weekend (thank you school district!) rebuilding the trans, I decided to rent a slingshot! Figured since its gonna be beautiful - why not? I've rented them before - I love them. Wife and I seriously thinking of buying one - I'd use it as my daily!
  3. That was the best one fit-wise that I recall. Very little modification needed.
  4. Yeah but does she understand the arousal you get riding the other one????
  5. When I lost a gear - it would not allow me to shift into it while driving. Now, sitting still with engine off - I could shift just fine. I could still drive the car - just would skip 3rd. When they drained the trans out popped a tooth! I too managed 180k miles on the trans. Not to bad! Good luck. I settled with a full rebuild of the gears. Also will be slapping on the Trans brace for just added "luck". Hey, if I can get another 180k out of the next one - fine with me!
  6. I can only give you comparisons without the corn, cams, FMIC, and deletes. The 18 is more "instant" feel to the top. I enjoyed the pull much better. I do not spend much time driving in the area that the 20g would be better in my normal driving routines. "Peppier" would be a great word. When it came to deciding on which to go with in the full build - I went with the 18 simply because of the area of the power band I drive in mostly. I am looking forward to Stu's build as he has my 20g and prob identical engine mods. The cams and deletes really helped the 18 in whp numbers and that is felt in 5th and 6th gear - so interstate driving got to be more enjoyable. I just was worried that I'd be sacrificing that bottom "fun" again if I stayed with the 20 and regret would always be there. What would be wonderful - and I'm dying to do - is to hook up with Stu when his car is all together and drive them back to back. But, to be honest, that 18 on corn is nuts. no reason at all to downshift at 5th gear. It pulls like 2nd and that flips most of the SRTs out.
  7. The great thing is that you are getting to have data on all this. Most people I know put the parts on then got tuned right away so info on just the effect of a part(s) install only never is known.
  8. Lol. Nah, remember, this is a 180k miles trans. It was holding power from the first tune at 10k. My 2005 Altima SER's trans went about this time. Now, I'm not saying power had nothing to do with it - just that if you have that power, be smart, the trans can decently hold it. Pay to play.
  9. Hears a pic of one of my "teeth" they found pulling the trans. Comes from 3rd gear.
  10. I would half bet that he wouldn't mind making a few more since the hard part of design research is already done. Or, somebody could be a thief and take one and get it duplicated....
  11. Yup. He is all out now. Nice thing was that I didn't pay that price tho. He said he made 7.
  12. What did I do? Broke 3rd gear. With 180k miles... it was expected - I was just praying a bunch lately and must have run out of subi god love.
  13. Back in '13 when I started to build and tune my car, there already was a shun by many shops away from the DW injectors. At all this advice, I bought IDs. Now, at the same time, DWs fuel pumps were still ok. Now, shops are shunning those too. Personally my original DW 300 fuel pump was great - lasted many tunes and I racked up 150K miles on it. I just recently went and swapped it out to an AEM one since I knew that sooner or later, simply by how many miles the FP had on it, it was going to go. AWDtuning suggested the AEM.
  14. started going thru the pick parts here in Houston and found a 1986 Brat! lol
  15. Ok, I'm just saying, certain things I would not skimp on. That turbo is one. BNR is very reputable and proven - Otherwise just keep the stocker and tune the car to the best it can do with all the other support parts. Your ride is going to be down - send the turbo. God forbid somebody else does a half ass job and the blades get brought into your nice sexy block. IMHO.
  16. Why exercise? I burn calories other ways. My wife seems to enjoy it too.
  17. Best suggestion - don't come on this forum. We are reeeeeaaaaallllly good at making people want to mess with their rides. Some have degrees in enabling.
