I got the key out but vehicle wouldn't start. Waiting for a tow, I waited another hour and it started. Very odd. Time for an alternator.

My battery light has been going on for the past few weeks when I start the car but it goes off when I rev the engine. I bought a new alternator but didn't install it yet. Today I was driving and it was off but went back on and then the car went into limp mode and the transmission felt jerky even though it's a CVT. Then the car just shut off as I pulled into a parking lot. It only goes in drive or neutral. I can't put it in park and can't get the key out of the ignition. How do I put it in park and get the key out of the ignition?

What's a good brand serpentine belt?

I need a new alternator. What is a good one? Should I replace the serpentine belt at the same time?

The lower tie bar that is bent, which holds the radiator in place, does a shop need to use a frame machine or can I bend that with standard household tools? Just unsure of how to bend it since it looks metal.

Which engine splash shield is the right one? I think I had the second down on that link but wouldn't mind a larger one.

The radiator feels a little loose from the top by the coolant reservoir. Is that missing a snap cap or something? 2. The radiator doesn't appear to be damaged and I drove two hours home after this happened. However the frame appears to be damaged and the radiator supports seem to be uprooted a bit. Is this an issue if I leave it like that? 3. This knocked my in-car outside temperature sensor out. I see it dangling down with 1 of 2 wires detached. I needed a new one before anyway but will I need a wire harness too based on the picture? 4. Where does the temperature sensor attach to on the rear of the bumper? 5. What part number is the sensor? 6. Does the sensor control anything to do with the heating and cooling of the car or does it just display the outside temperature next to how many miles to a tank I have left? 7. I see I can get a new painted bumper cover on ebay for $250 total. Is this a good price or could I get the same color likely for cheaper at a junk yard? What's a good price? 8. What is the plastic piece model number that goes behind the bumper cover that also looks damaged? 9. What is the model number for the under engine plastic that is like an aerodynamic shield? I see a short and long one on Amazon but not sure what it had. 10. What pop in caps do I need to secure the plastic pieces?

Never repainted. The paint job is terrible in general.

That is above the front driver wheel well. Can't I just put some clearcoat on there to protect the primer?

http://imgur.com/a/4Ndz9bo I hit my garbage tote while pulling out of my driveway. Paint has always seemed to chip or scratch easy on this car. What's an easy and cheap DIY way of preventing this from rusting? Does anyone else think the car has cheaper paint than others or are they all like this? Never had an issue on other cars. One time I rested my pick up's door on my Legacy's door and it scratched the crap out of it. I even set the door as soft as can be as I knew I was doing it.

I don't even see OEM kits on Amazon but I'll check Rockauto. Is the water pump necessary to change right now?

I have 122k miles on my 2.5L and figure I should get my timing belt done as preventative maintenance. What else should I get done with it? Is this kit sufficient or do I need more? My usual shop (indy) said it's a pain and they'd rather not do it. Dealership wants like $800 and I don't even know what that includes.

No pictures but I'm guessing the 2.5L Legacy (mine) will have a different setup than the LGT.

I had my car up on a lift at a shop and saw I have holes in the exhaust clamps. I forgot how many clamps there are. Is it two? Are they serviceable or do I need a cat back? What size are they? Will I be able to get them off since they're so rusted?

The driver side under the bumper has some transmission fluid there coming from one of the rubber hoses. I looked at it myself but the dealer said transmission coolant line is leaking. What do I need to buy to fix this? What type of fluid would need to be used to top it up? Is it an east fix? I have a CVT. I'm at 120k miles. Do I need a fluid flush anyway?

He already cleaned it in May.

Wiggling it has solved it in the past. What is the part number for the wire and how difficult is it to replace?

2012 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium, 120k miles. I had intermittent starting issues back in May. I would turn the key and no noise of it trying to start. Not even click click click. All lights would go on and the fairly new battery tested fine. I could wait a few hours and it would then start fine. Went to the dealer and the mechanic came to the parking lot since it couldn't even start to bring it inside. He wiggled a wire near the starter and it started up. He cleaned and applied protectant to the starter signal wire. They charged me $60. This fixed the problem until yesterday. Wouldn't start then this morning it started fine. What should I do?

So do you think it would be dirty or need to be replaced if it's not giving me a correct reading? Will that affect engine operating temperature or anything else or is that sensor only for the in-car reading?

The temperature reading in the center between the windshield and radio is not correct. Noticed this a lot lately. Says 75F when I was parked in direct sun and it's almost 90F outside. What's broken and how does one fix it?

It was some starter relay that had to be rewired and cleaned.

The way that reads is if the part was already replaced? I also dont have a key ring, so it's always just been a single key.

What's the location of the starter? Do I need ramps?

I didnt get a clicking noise. I had that last year when the original battery was dying. I also tried hitting the gas pedal as I turned the key. Had luck with that on my old car from last decade. No luck today with this car.
