  1. So to finish up it was just install all the goodies and give her a bath. Once I get my parts back from paint I will have a new trunk and bumper and a lip spoiler and roof spoiler from Rev R to add. Also my interior lighting. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zpsc5c48609.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps462315d6.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zpsd809f449.jpg In the shade next to my other baby... http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zpsa2b479bc.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zpsd188e400.jpg And to end a night shot of my lights. It was super foggy and my phone doesn't do well with glare so this is as good as it gets.... http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zpsab91ba5e.jpg So thats it for now. Once I get my parts painted I will finish up and fix the back end then its off to Montana. As far as the suspension goes its pretty good I will be ordering a 15mm spacer to get the front out a tiny bit so it matches the rear better. Then the last few projects are to get the exhaust, and intake done as well as some tuning. Sound clips will be provided... Evo X brake conversion is going but will take some time to dial in so that will be an ongoing project I hope to have done and installed by the end of Feb. Might do a couple extra projects if I'm feeling up to it but for now her looks give my old Lego a serious run for her money. Car needs fresh paint I will probubly paint it the same Tuxedo Black my old legacy was done and I have not desided on di-nocing any parts I kinda like the chrome accents and all painted exterior... Anyways thats it for now folks. Johann
  2. Next up was the exterior goodies. In order for me to get the estimate and check from the insurance to fit the trunk and bumper from the ass face that rear ended me I need to drive the car into town so I figure I could get the most of the exterior finished and just leave the rear alone until after the estimate. Started with my headlights. I bought a new set because my stockers were pretty faded lenses and I wanted something nice and new and clean. So into the oven at 200 dwg for 6 mins and off the lenses came. Then I masked up the parts I wanted to leave chrome… http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps4d71d642.jpg Then painted the housings black… http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps31d6ce38.jpg Then I stuck them back in the oven and put the lenses on and walla. Sexy new headlights. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zpsad71d38f.jpg Next up was the bumper. I ordered a lip from Rev-R but I got one for the wrong year and the one for my year is not totally finish with production so I bought my buddies used 06 STi Lip and modified it to fit the Lego bumper. After some trimming and fitting I got it just about perfect http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zpsf5a81d62.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps2ab845ac.jpg Next up was the driving lights. I opted to get rid of my Fogs and bought a set of the 2.5i legacy fog light vent coverers. These lights made enough light for parking lights but not much more. They measure 4x1/2” http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps09ab3522.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zpsf9619f56.jpg Then I trimmed out my new covers. Wired them using a female 9006 plug and just plugged them into the stock fog harness. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps199c131e.jpg
  3. Next was the set the rear suspension. I bought all the adjustable Megan Racing Arms to dial it in perfectly. So I set the flare on and used my donor wheels to check the suspension travel with the rear coilover disconnected from the arm. At my projected ride height: http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps523124c5.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps3a27b129.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps0b5deab7.jpg At the top of the travel range: No rubbing.... http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps2a608744.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps235f7cab.jpg
  4. Hey all. as promised its update time I got a lot done this weekend. First off I will start with the flares on the left side. I took some extra time to take pics of the process for how I cut and modify the quarters to prevent rubbing when bringing the wheel out. First step is to install the flare on to the car. The first side is always easier then the second because you have to match the first so take your time. Then you draw your new higher wheel arch. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps87cd837f.jpg Then you cut the outer skin only. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps10b84a11.jpg Then I hammer the inner wheel well skin up into the outer skin. Be sure to knock it from the inside out the more metal you can force to the outside the less likely your wheel will rub. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps0549f5ef.jpg Once its folded up and where you like it you can either solid weld it together or seal it with an epoxy sealer or like me, me to you can tack weld the panels together and fiberglass the seam. I like this because its less time consuming and avoids the chance to warp the quarter from the heat of solid welding. Here it is all ready for tack welding and glass... http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps41095daa.jpg
  5. So update… I got the wheels they fit great. The fronts they can fit without a spacer but I think I am going to put a 10mm there anyways to bring the wheel out a bit more but the rear needs at least a 15mm spacer to avoid the trailing arm. Any additional camber with anything higher than say a 18/19x10.5 +22 would need a spacer as well. I have my 1" spacers from spacing out my stock wheels I am going to see if I can just run those but if the camber is ridiculous (no offence to the super camber guys) I will drop to a 15mm and get 10mm back. I flared the car because I want my tires to last since this is my DD and I will be putting a lot of miles on her. I'll have pics tonight I hope of the wheels with the flares but it depends on how long it takes to get my tpms sensors out of my stock wheels and the wheels and tires mounted. Worst case I have no plans tomorrow so its strait home after work and a late night in the shop since I don't work Fridays. Also R-Rev accidently sent me a lip for an 05-07 Legacy and not the 08-09 Legacy. They are taking care of me like you would expect but the new lips are not 100% ready so I bought an 06 STi V-Limited Replica lip cheap from a buddy to stick on there in the meantime to match my side skirt extensions. I’ll have it on there this weekend before I re-install the bumper. I also got some super thin LED driving lights to stick in the small unpainted section of the main air damn of the bumper. Should look sweet at night and maybe during the day people will get out of my why because they will think I am an undercover cop… lol I bought a full set of the Megan arms so I can dial in the rear perfect. This also gets me the stock arms so if I decide at some point I can make my own set of arms using some higher quality joints and just sell the Megans. I got my lug nuts in too. Burnt Ti finish.... Not neo chrome. They start grey at the base then fade to red then a thin bit gold then purplish blue at the tips. Pretty cool looking and they match my exhaust tips. Pics soon Johann
  6. It wasn't a Tomei it was some rip off.. I didn't run the ITB setup because I was using the STi harness I modified it to use a ported fly-by-wire throttle body but, the manifold flow characteristics were still very good and the placement of the piping with my v-mount was perfect. That forester was never tuned but I sold my entire setup to a guy with a sweet red GR STi and we will be swapping into his ride sometime in the summer so I will get to see how it does at some point. The ITB setup on a Subaru is hard because you have to link all the ports past the throttle bodies to a vacuum block to get enough vacuum to run anything. Using a vacuum assisted brake booster would be really stretching it. I would say the one I had and the Tomei would have been a pain to tune all the throttle bodies as well as the linkage and the power benefits on a daily would have been pretty insignificant unless you have a GT3076 or larger to validate the need in flow efficiency. However putting a throttle body on the end of it makes the entire thing go under vacuum and with its increased flow characteristics it would probably be much better suited for daily driven cars because it would require far less work to tune everything. Also you could run the brake booster and other components like normal I have actually been looking into getting a Porsche 996 ITB setup and retrofitting it to the EZ30R. I bet that would sound epic…. That would also require a MAP sensor conversion and a Vipec V88. But again that’s another idea for a later time… I am leaning towards keeping this N/A because it’s already got pretty good power curve and since it’s my daily why does it really need to be stupid fast. Dropping compression and doing a supercharger sounds pretty fun but will kill my MPG so bad. I might take the Eaton MP90 I have and make a supercharger kit to sell and use it to deck my heads and regrind my cams with some ITBs. 290-300whp and lots of torque with a higher rpm might be more fun… Also I could make the ITB Velocity Stacks stick just outside the hood like old school Ferraris… Dammit there I go again… haha
  7. Yeah then the Vipec would be a better option because it would run the engine all alone and I could keep the stock harness and disconnect all the auto crap and still use it for the cluster, lights, HVAC, etc... Then I would just need to add a neutral switch to the park switch so it will start and wire in the reverse lights. It’s doable. It’s just expensive and a lot of time. I would probably have to swap and re-wire the ABS pump for a manual version like you do in a WRX or redo the entire system and run no ABS... None of my other cars ever had ABS so that’s not a big deal for me but I’f have to figure out if I could get a Non-ABS Brighton MC to fit… Meh, I'll let that one marinate for a few months before I give it any more real thought lol... After the lego is done I need a new set of wheels and tires for the MR2 P45R2 18x10 +12 Front with 15mm Spacers and 235/40/18 Toyo R888 P45R3 18x12 +0 Rear with 275/35/18 Toyo R888 MMM sticky rubber……
  8. I still have my MR2. I bought it back after they totalled it and rebuild it how you see it now. I'm driving her now while the lego is getting worked on. The headers are a cheapish set for a 350z. I have some EZ30 gaskets at the dealer I need to pick up so I can get some flanges made. I will just alter the header to line up with the EZ30 gaskets and then run the exhaust back from there. I have been looking into doing a manial swap but its a LOT of work so I will get everything I have so far installed and drive it like that for a while. I have some stuff I want to do the MR2 this year still too for Auto X season so if I do a manual swap it will be in the far distance. I have an Eaton MP90 supercharger that seems to be calling my name more and more each day... lol maybe I'll make a lil somethin somethin when I am driving the MR2 more in the warmer months. If I did a manual swap I'd need to find an LGT tranny or something and get the pedal assy, shifter trim, linkage, driveshaft, diff etc.... I also need to look into the logistics of the ECU and find out if I need to disable and override crap or just toss it and get a Vipec V88 which I might do anyways if I supercharge it so time will tell. Maybe an Ausi Liberty manual EZ30 ECU I donno...
  9. Thanx guys. New wheels and tires show up today. Super Excited!! I don't know if I mentioned this but 2 Thursdays ago I got rear ended in the Lego (I know!!!) and the trunk and bumper got messed up. I already ordered the trunk and bumper ahead of time out of pocket and I have an Apt for the guy to look at the damage and cut me a check on Tuesday so I need to get the car pretty much finished with the flares and fitting the wheels and tires by then. The performance stuff I will probably start after I get back from a snowboarding trip in Montana in mid Feb. I should have some progress pics up tomorrow from tonight. After work I am picking up my wheels and tires and loading up my stock wheels into my buddies explorer. I got to get the TPMS sensors out of my stock wheels and transferred over. That’s all getting done tomorrow. I am going to try and get the flares fitted on the driver’s side, the side skirt extension mounted and my headlight housings masked and painted. 10. They are rawrparts for an outback so they dont fit exactly but they look pretty good. Ill have pics of them later this week
  11. Okay lets get started. First thing I did was start getting the flares on . I am using a donor set of wheels with a very close fitting to the ones I ordered which will be here Tuesday. Front: http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps0f154948.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps2773d78d.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zpsd3cd0a97.jpg Rear: http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps802fdacd.jpg If you look closely you can see that the wheel is more forward in the arch which is an inherent problem with lowering these cars so I modified the brackets that hold the rear trailing arm/ knuckle with an extra hold that moves it back 1” http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps57bf797c.jpg This moved the wheel so at my lowered ride hieght it is in the center of the wheel arch and shouldn't have any rubbing issues with my flare or front of the wheel well. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps41f24516.jpg I coupled this with a full set of adjustable arms from Megan Racing. I would have made my own with hyme joints but I like the rubber style that is in the Megans so my car doesn't make any "clunky" noises. Ones I get out and set the suspension with the new wheels I will verify the travel of the rear suspension with the modded mounts. My buddy at TSS Fab is insterested in maybe making a production piece of this so if any of you lowered Legos are interested let me know. Thats all I have for now. I will be getting my wheels, tires, last links, and a few other parts this week. I also have a set of headlights I took apart to paint so I will have pics of those for the next post. More to come Johann
  12. Suspension: Already got some BC Racing Coilovers and just to see I spaced the Stock wheels out an inch to see how it would look. Additional work will be making some adjustable arms for the front and rear so I can dial in my stance to have an aggressive look w/o car crippling camber and rubbing. Despite what many think, you can have an aggressive stance that doesn’t render the car totally useless.. Both my old Legacy and MR2 run less than 2.5 deg of camber and only rubbed slightly with a full load. No sway or strut bars on this car I still want it to be pretty plush this is my everyday car the hard core mountain pass killer is my MR2 Brakes: This will be a fun project… I bought a full set of EVO X Brembo callipers and Girodisc rotors for a good price to just have till I figured out what to do with them and they will be going on this car. I will be having Girodisc (used to work for them) make me a set of EVO X hats with the Subaru Dual 5x100/ 5x114.3 bolt pattern and center bore as well as a new parking brake bell. I will be modifying the front hubs slightly to use the EVO X caliper (already done it once) and making a custom bracket to mount the caliper in the rear. Wheels/ Tires: Since my old legacy was flared using 93 Honda Civic Flares off 2 pairs of stock fenders naturally, this Legacy needs to be flared too. I have a set of really high quality FRP Flares that I will be initially bolting on and later molding in when I have time to do body work in the summer months with I am driving the MR2 more regularly. Wheels are still in the air for style because I am looking for something that doesn’t break the bank so if I curb on its not a huge devastating hit to my wallet but still gives me the VIPish Style and look I want. I ordered a set of STR 610 in gloss black 19x10.5 +35 on 265/30/19 Continental DWS Tires. Exterior: Aside from the flares I have ordered an extra set of headlights to pull the amber and black them out and for added flare I will be using bolt on additions to the stock bumpers to ensure a good fit. Been talking to Jason at R-Rev for parts. Here is the list. Carbon Grill Carbon Fog Covers Front Lip Carbon Mirror Covers Roof Lip Spoiler Rear Lip Trunk Spoiler Carbon Eye Lids Other Parts include: Side Skirt Extensions OEM Mud Flaps Deleted Chrome Trim Tinted Windows Slightly Tinted Taillights Carbon Licence Plate Frame LED/ HID Lighting all around http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/30r03_zps2ad5da6a.jpg Since this pic I have changed up a couple things I will get to those as the thread move forward.
  13. Then per my MO I went nuts and started planing out another build with it... It’s a car that I have always wanted and it’s basically the car I always wanted my old Legacy to be. So with that said I starting the build thread for this car because like all my other cars I have big plans. The difference with this car is instead of me buying an older cheap (crappy) car and transforming it into something special, for the first time in a long while, I will be starting with something nice and just making it more unique and hopefully in the process even better. My idea is to make a reincarnation of my old Legacy. Like a Ver. 2.0 if you will; using the engine and front end I wanted my other Legacy to have. So for starters I will go over my plans. Engine/ Performance: Not going to go too crazy (for now) because the engine is already pretty stout for an everyday car but I plan to make a custom intake using 2 97-01 N/A intake pipes, dual Perrin Black Foam Filters, and a WRX 3” MAF pipe. I will need to relocate the battery to the trunk so I can put the filters just behind both headlights. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/30r04_zpsb6d91b0f.jpg For the Exhaust I wanted to make a “true dual” exhaust with Ti Tips, but nothing is really out there (especially the header) for a reasonable price so I ordered a full engine back exhaust for a 350z. I will be modifying the header to mate up to EZ30R flanges I will have cut, and use the bends and pieces from the exhaust to re-route it for the Legacy. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/30r01_zps3a572059.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/30r02_zps5dc5859b.jpg The rest will be all new fluids and plugs and some tuning done by my friend at PIA to see what she will make. The future may hold a built 3.0 block and a MP90 Supercharger from a Roush Mustang that’s already been rotated to spin the right direction for our cars that I was going to use on my Baja Forester project. There is a chance I might just make the kit and sell it to do a EZ36R block swap and just leave it N/A but time will tell.
  14. However, one of my biggest regrets was selling my Black Lego because looking back I really enjoyed that car. I was planning on dropping in an EZ30R and eventually converting the front end to a 04-05 Legacy, but obviously never got around to it. So a couple weeks ago before parting out and scrapping my “BALTFOZ” Project I bought a 98 2.2 Legacy from a friend to use as a winter daily while I decided what to do with my Forester and after I decided to cut my loses on it. Did a little to it to make it more tailored to what I was using it for (winter mountain snowboarding attack vehicle) using parts from the MR2 and Forester. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/image_zps7bdef834.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/image_zps012a5528.jpg But then I did some looking around for fun and found that one of my dream cars was for sale in my town in the exact color and trim and priced very well so I took the plunge and bought her. Shes an 08 Legacy 3.0R Limited http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps23629551.jpg First off was the Snowboard Rack and then I got some BC Racing Coilovers and some 1" spacers to move the stock wheels out. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps65170089.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps02088572.jpg Not to bad for stock wheels the 1" spacers was perfect with no rubbing. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/image_zps7a4b0231.jpg
  15. Hey all. So I am back in the Lego world so I figure why not start a build thread for my new car. For those that don’t know me I started here with my old 99 Legacy under the name Girodisc. I spent a lot of time making what was to me was probably my most favourite car I have ever built alongside my MR2. I ended up parting out the drivetrain for another project and then selling the body (after swapping his old Legacy drivetrain into it to get it moving) and it is currently still running around. If you recognize this car it’s because it was the Nasioc Top Scoob Winner for the Legacy’s a few years back. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/DSC_1606.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/DSC_1599.jpg After I left the Legacy world I got into Foresters. First building a Forester race car to be used for Auto X and Time attack. Just before finishing I was getting ready to move and I was about to lose my shop and space for a recreational vehicle so I part out and sold this to another guy that’s currently looking to finish it with an H6 drivetrain. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/ForeSTAR/Forester269.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/ForeSTAR/Forester270.jpg After this I got another Forester that I was attempting to make into the everything rig I needed that my MR2 could not do so I was basically turning it into a pre-runner truck. Unfortunately, my luck with finishing cars was still not going my way and I was rear ended in my MR2 which resulted in a broken wrist. After a couple surgeries my wrist was left with about 60% mobility and 50% strength and I decided to cut my losses on the Forester and let it go. I did buy my MR2 back from insurance after they totalled it out and finished it to be one of my favourite cars. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/MR2/image_zpsa2c66e13.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/MR2/image_zps4eba45e3.jpg
