  1. Back in the days there was a Chinese Company called SUBAGE who sold all the OEM accessories incl. spoilers and lips. Try to look them up, I remember they had rather low prices but I never bought anything so I don't know about quality
  2. :)...I know I know...mine ist SSM one, the whitey in the first foto is off-thread here...and so is the blackie in the background of the other one
  3. In Germany the first part of the plate indicates the city (Wü=Würzburg, or e.g. M=Munich, B=Berlin, F=Frankfurt etc.). The major cities have 1 letter, medium-size cities have 2 letters, small urban areas 3. The rest is a combination of letters and numbers, similar to the US. The stickers - aside the city code - indicate the technical inspection date (rear plate) and the emission control date (front plate). As long as You stay in the same city You can keep the plates from one car to the other. When You move to another city You need new plates and - invalidating/ removing the 2 stickers from the old ones - You can also keep them as a "souvenir". I still have mine infact...
  4. ...hmmm, Würzburg plates... Nice Frankonian city with good wine and food, plus nice hills around for biking etc. Brings back memories, we often went there during a 3 month stay in Hammelburg in 1990.
  5. I read through these 6 pages and went "wow"....no such things happening over here. Had only 1 scene happen back around 09/2010, a guy in a '08 Legacy sedan gave me a thumbs up after he rolled some 20 km behind/aside me on the highway to get a good glimpse...ah and a girl with a WRX I happen to encounter now and then going to the office - we flash our lights to say HI...but that's all. I also stopped waving to other Subaru/Legacy/Outback drivers...they usually don't even notice and/or don't wave back anyway. Some even looked as if I wanted to harrass them Being this a "strange" car anyway, what happens usually is getting asked for a comment/opinion when people discover which car I drive.

  7. Neither am I a fan of black plastidip - but You know, they also make many other plain colors, as well as metallic finishes and others. E.g. I bought transparent a while ago to cover my lower bumper edges, yet maintaing the original SSM color. Plus, the best thing about it is: if You mess something up, You just peel it away and re-start. Only bad thing is it's rather costy...so You better not mess up/ re-do things too many times
  8. I also got the official price from my dealership - the full 2010 headlamp unit incl. HID's + auto-levelling unit is Euro 1101,73 incl. italian VAT. And that's PER PIECE (right or left side) => Full swap is Euro 2203,46 = approx. USD 2860,-
  9. I contacted a German dealer directly...they couldn't give me an exact price because the first 2013 facelifts will arrive on their lot around may/june, so they don't have any VIN number to choose the right version from....and I don't have one either obviously. The approximate price idea they gave me was Euro 900,- incl. VAT (full headlight incl. HID unit)....and that's PER PIECE => full swap is Euro 1800,- My italian dealership didn't yet react...the guy from the spare parts department is away for some tech lessons...."patience my young padawan"
  10. It's a regular spare part in countries where Legacies come stock with HID's. I don't know about Yours, if it did just get them through Your dealership (they come unpainted). If not, You will have to check in the country/ with the supplier You got them from.
  11. @Higuma - if You weren't on a LHD vehicle I'd ask if maybe You had intentions in selling me Your car Very nice, indeed !! Ciao, all the best.
  12. @magopra + all: I've realized I made a mistake...the link I put in post #156 is actually the accessory catalogue for the 2013 version....my wrong, sorry. So all this stuff mounts on the 2013 EDM version (and NOT the 2010-2012).
  13. I was out on a business trip these days...I'll call my italian dealership today for a price for the italian version (2010 in chrome + HID's). Plus I'll ask a German friend to do so for the German version (2012 facelift in chrome and in blacked-out + HID's). As soon as I have all the prices I'll post them here.
  14. @Higuma: I'm sooooooo jealous !!! DIT engine (what I would like to have), and now a set of veeeery nice wheels....compliments, what a nice car !!
  15. I now found out that in Germany they already sell the 2013 facelift WITH HID's. Thanks to Brainchild Customs we know the 2013's are a direct swap to 2010's, therefore You have 2 more options to choose
  16. OK, good. In fact I didn't say "don't do it" I just wanted to suggest to check all details before going ahead and making changes that would later have put You in trouble. If You want I can check with my dealership how much a full lamp + HID's would cost.
  17. Sure, European laws apply to people living here...in fact the US laws are much less stringent regarding tuning than they are here. 13LGT actually IS in Italy (serving the US Military), that's why I pointed out what our laws over here are like. I wouldn't be so sure about the fact that a military "can get away with things like that" - I'm an ex-AF officer - as long as he's here he will probably have to stick to a certain amount of local laws, too. In the end it's obviously up to everybody to check for himself what he can/wants to do, gathering the necessary information BEFORE going ahead with modifications.
  18. Because if he does only change the lamp+HID unit the car becomes "illegal road condition" all around Europe, means: - You lose insurance coverage, in case You are involved in an accident You will be held responsible privately and pay all damage (Yours if You didn't cause the accident, Yours + third party if instead You did, even partially) - in a police control they will impound the vehicle, You go home by foot/train and then have 30 days to re-condition the car and re-pass official technical inspection - same for a revision (every 3 years), You don't pass and have 30 days to re-present Your car in legal road condition Not really a joke to play around with imho...just saying.
  19. Over here the KW V3 rate EURO 1915,- = USD 2500,- excl. installation.
  20. A part the dimensional question, keep in mind that ALL Euro models have HID's plus washer units in the bumper (legally compulsory), while USDM has Halogen bulbs without washer unit. Lamp washing works for some 1-2 seconds while You tear the left stick at the driving wheel for windscreen washing, but I don't know if the control unit is the same as without HID washing units. So - even in case dimensions were compatibile - You still would have to go for a rather large swap (full lamp housings + HIDs, new bumper, washer units + evtl. control unit/s). And that would surely be pricey, I suppose.
  21. ...second PS: In Germany they also sold a version with partially blacked-out sections, see the foto. So YES there are also partially blacked-out versions for RHD.
  22. errr....Japan = UK => LHD. If You would want to install a JDM-looking headlight that's useable on RHD traffic You would need to opt for "EDM" = Euro-version. Just my 2cent. PS: The standard "EURO-version" is all chrome incl. the side-markers (USDM are orange). The only orange is the "winker" , or indicator if You like, which is an orange bulb behind a clear, refracted glass => what we call "fried eggs look"
  23. At first I would have tendend towards the bigger JDM lip, Subaru product code E2410AJ000NN (Euro 341,- unpainted ). In our brochures it's always shown colour-matched to the car, and so far I never saw one, neither physically nor installed. After seeing the fotos of the 2 lip types installed, I definitely like the smaller lip. The bigger one really needs the colour match to be "digestable", black plastic on a lighter-coloured car is a NO-NO IMHO.
