Way to go! Happy driving!

Sweet! Putting it all back together feels good. I dropped my motor back in and buttoned everything up and went underneath to install an axle and realized I forgot to put the engine mounts back on the block, lol.

I took the SS on a little 300 mile road trip. It's a fun cruiser and performed flawlessly. AC compressor doesn't work at all now and it was 95 out but not too hot with the windows rolled down.
Trevorno, sorry to hear you had to sell it. 20 year old cars can be a constant pain.

^Looks great from here! Nice work. But polish your headlights already. JK!
I took the SS back to the dealership to have the AC checked since they gaurantee the work they did a few weeks ago. They think the AC compressor is on it's way out. I'm debating whether to pull a compressor from the yard or buy a new one. A new one is about $500 and a salvage compressor is about $25. But at $100 a pop to charge it I might be better off in the long run with a new one. Hmm....

Also could be the pressure sensor on the dryer, you can test/ bypass the pressure switch by momentarily connecting the two wires on the sensor, this is throwing a ground to the ecu. If the pressure is too low it wont engage the compressor, but bypassing the sensor should kick it on no matter, but you don't want to run it with low refridgerant for long.
Thanks usliberty. Ill have to look into that. The o rings are new. I had the dealership do everything so I am going to make another appointment. I'm wondering if they overcharged it.

The AC is working intermittently. Yesterday morning it didn't work at all when my wife drove it. It was on Max AC and blew lukewarm air. I switched it to regular AC and it now blows a little colder. It was converted and recharged only two weeks ago and wasn't cheap. The compressor is knocking a little bit so maybe it is on its way out.

Telluride would be even more sweet if there weren't so many Trustafarians.
Keep up the good work!

^I bought an ebay knock sensor for $12.50 shipped and have had no issues. However, it was tricky to remove and replace compared to my NA leggy because of all the vacuum lines.
-
^are you sure it isn't a power steering pump leak?
-
Got the o-rings and new valves installed and a flush and recharge. AC works great! Handling is much better with the new ball joint. Got to test it out on some nice canyon twisties.
I wish I could have gone with the old r-12 as it is supposed to blow colder but I got cold with the new stuff, lol.

The cheapo ball joint I installed a year and a half ago was about to fail. Replaced it with an OEM. I had the AC system checked out at the dealership. The O-rings are leaking so I ordered new ones. I was hoping they could recharge the system with the old type of refrigerant but it looks like Ill have to get it converted which is going to run about $200.
I guess the car fund is going towards maintenance instead of mods, . But with 100 degree temps the AC will be nice to have. When I pulled the engine to do the HGs I disconnected the AC and have since learned that you can supposedly just push it aside.

They're the same but the glass is different iirc.

Driver's side door handle is all jacked. It sticks up and won't go down unless you smack it hrd. Ill have to investigate when I'm not working.
-
I lost my drivers side turn signal assembly. The plastic tabs that hold the bolts broke and it popped out on the freeway. It flopped around for a minute and then disconnected and smashed on the road. hopefully I can make it to the junkyard tomorrow after work before it closes.

I found a good DIY by JayGold on NASIOC for rebuilding the calipers: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=881881

I have a Baldor bench grinder and a polishing wheel so Ill have to give it a go!
I dismantled one front and rear caliper. All the rings, seals and pistons look great.
-
How do you polish them?
The pads look pretty worn so I am going to get new ones. Any suggestions as to what are pretty good and not super expensive? I haven't had the rotors checked out yet to see if they can be turned or if they are still good yet either. I've seen some inexpensive rotors on ebay but I don't know about the quality.
And how much brake fluid do I need to purchase? I've only changed rotors and pads so I'm a brake noob.

G2 can make custom color paint as well. It's $99 while the regular kit is $50. The silver looks like it would match pretty good from the images I've seen on the web.
I'm going to see if my body shop makes custom color engine paint as well.
-
I like the idea of silver calipers and black lettering!
As far as powder coating Ill have to investigate how much that would cost.
Edit: Powdercoating the calipers appears to be waaaay to much. Screw that! I'm going to wire wheel and paint them myself.
-
RED! Did you paint those control arms black? Looks good but i like the aluminium ones
I didn't paint them, that's how they came. I like the aluminum arms as well, but I'll just stick with the GC8 arms for now. I've seen the aluminum arms for sale on NASIOC quite a bit for $250-300. Maybe later.
what wheels will you be using by the way?I currently have 02 16" WRX wheels on the wagon. I'll need 5mm spacers for the 4 pots to clear.
A coworker has a STi with glossy black 4 pots and they look really slick! I need to find someplace that can sandblast them for me.

One of the rear assemblies appears to have been damaged at some point, either during shipping or before. There is some play in the bearing and obvious damage upon visual inspection. Some marring is apparent where the axle inserts and could be filed out. Trailing arm looks straight. I plan on removing the dust shields and doing the H6 upgrade at some point.
Here are some pics of the damage.

Disassembly went fairly well. I only broke one ABS sensor bolt with the impact gun.
The JDM VER 6 4 pots didn't come a nice paint job from the factory so I'll sandblast them and properly paint them. Powdercoat would be nice but I'm on a budget and good with rattlecans. Vote for colors? Black, red, or silver?
