  1. haha, silver babies... thats funny.

i have another one i think but it need the whole where the bpv goes to. i sent u a link in the other thread about how to get the UK ones. thats probly ur best bet. OR, try and find one in the junkyard.... your free SS doesnt have one?

I posted on that thread right before you posted that link. I saw the UK listed ones. They are super expensive, about 70 pounds. The hole configuration is a bit different, so I was concerned that rerouting some of the hoses would cause issues. It might be my best bet right now. subikid is trying to make an elbow/coffecan mod unit right now. If it works he hopes to provide them for SS owners.

And no, there was no elbow on my junk SS.

  2. Holy crap this SS HG replacement is getting epic. Four days into it and the engine is still in there. I'm tired. This is the most involved mechanical endeavor that I have ever undertaken. :) I hope this thing runs when I finish up.

I was finally able to get the lower transmission bolt on the driver's side loose. I didn't remove the axle at first since I didn't know it was necessary. Removing the axle took a few hours. I tried as hard as I could with the 1/2 breaker bar but that thing was stuck. Yes, I unlocked the nut first. So I had to go to poop boys and buy an electric impact gun. It's a Kawasaki and was able to break the nut loose, so I might keep it. I thought that I might just use it and return it. It was $76 so if there is a better one for the same price let me know. Time to take a break from this beast and do other stuff for the weekend, like drink beer, now.

  3. I'm in day three of engine removal on my SS. It was a bitch to get the turbo disconnected from the downpipe. There are five (or so) bolts that connect it to the downpipe, and at least two that connect it to the uppipe. The nuts were seized and I had to go and buy two different swivel head ratchets to get them off.

But once I got the downpipe removed I could see the teeniest, cutest little turbine. It is about the size of a little hostess donut, lol.

Trying to remain calm throughout all this. But I'll know that engine inside and out when I'm done. Broke a couple of things, too. :(
