  1. My EJ22E has over 255k and rips it up! Lots of power in the low gears. Fun to drive. edit: Goddamn that oil pump is sexy!
  2. I posted on that thread right before you posted that link. I saw the UK listed ones. They are super expensive, about 70 pounds. The hole configuration is a bit different, so I was concerned that rerouting some of the hoses would cause issues. It might be my best bet right now. subikid is trying to make an elbow/coffecan mod unit right now. If it works he hopes to provide them for SS owners. And no, there was no elbow on my junk SS.
  3. sqc121, too bad you are out on the east coast. It would be super awesome to get my black SS and your white SS together. Maybe they would have little silver babies, lol. Looks like your turbo inlet boot is intact, lucky guy! I am still bummin' that mine is cracked to hell. I'm trying to figure something out though. Any advice?
  4. I learned how precious my turbo inlet elbow is that I cracked the other day. But I went and looked at my SS scrapwagon and found the intake mani and turbo!
  5. Holy crap this SS HG replacement is getting epic. Four days into it and the engine is still in there. I'm tired. This is the most involved mechanical endeavor that I have ever undertaken. I hope this thing runs when I finish up. I was finally able to get the lower transmission bolt on the driver's side loose. I didn't remove the axle at first since I didn't know it was necessary. Removing the axle took a few hours. I tried as hard as I could with the 1/2 breaker bar but that thing was stuck. Yes, I unlocked the nut first. So I had to go to poop boys and buy an electric impact gun. It's a Kawasaki and was able to break the nut loose, so I might keep it. I thought that I might just use it and return it. It was $76 so if there is a better one for the same price let me know. Time to take a break from this beast and do other stuff for the weekend, like drink beer, now.
  6. Yup, that's what mine looks like now. Only that area of my engine is caked with a lot of oily gunk. The power steering pump seems to be weeping, and there is a lot of gunk around the rear of the valve cover. Did you use anti-seize compound when you put the turbo back on?
  7. Well, the long handled swivel was the only tool that finally worked after trying everything that I had. It took a lot of force/torque to break the nuts loose. So I felt that I found the right tool. What are the right tools that you use? Don't leave us hanging.
  8. I'm in day three of engine removal on my SS. It was a bitch to get the turbo disconnected from the downpipe. There are five (or so) bolts that connect it to the downpipe, and at least two that connect it to the uppipe. The nuts were seized and I had to go and buy two different swivel head ratchets to get them off. But once I got the downpipe removed I could see the teeniest, cutest little turbine. It is about the size of a little hostess donut, lol. Trying to remain calm throughout all this. But I'll know that engine inside and out when I'm done. Broke a couple of things, too.
  9. I spent all day getting my engine ready to pluck from my SS. I know an expert can do it in two hours, but I'll take more like two days, lol. I'm labeling everything and taking lots of pics. I wish I had the FSM for the EJ22T, .
  10. I started her up and watched white smoke pour out of her exhaust while I moved her a few feet. I'm going to start on plucking her engine out tomorrow. HGs should arrive tomorrow.
  11. Thanks for the CDI recommendation. And thanks for the heads too! I'm gonna go look at my CDI right now. It does have a great feel to it. Maybe I'll put it under my pillow tonight. edit: Looking at the CDI right now. It's an amazing tool. I'll never get over it. It can be dialed so accurately. TW = (TAxL)/(L+A) FTW!
  12. I got my Gates timing kit, head bolts, hydraulic tensioner, and my CDI/Snap-on torque wrench. That wrench is soooo pretty. HGs should get here Tuesday and the SS should get here Sunday. Oh, and I got a free EJ22T, but like anyone wants to even hear about that.
  13. Oh yeah, they are OEM. And I am getting the heads machined. I guess I better do the block too.
  14. I had my SS towed to eekay's house, lol. Blown HG. The SS will rise again!
  15. My good buddy bought me a hawt black SS. But you know, SSs are a dime a dozen these days.
