  1. Ok. Maybe I can hit the junkyard today after work. Thanks for the tip.
  2. I checked the resistance of the ignition coil a couple of days ago. The primary coils registered 1.0-1.2 ohms (FSM spec 0.7-1 ohms). The secondary coils registered 14.2-14.5 (FSM spec 13.9 ohms). That is within 95% of specs so I didn't think I needed to replace it. I wasn't able to put together my boost leak tester today like I hoped. As soon as I finish that and see if there are any leaks I'll move on to the coil pack. Is there an upgraded coil pack that I should consider. I have been looking around and it appears that the coil packs for a 5MT and 4EAT had different part numbers so I am guessing that they wouldn't be interchangeable? But at least the car is running much much better so at least I am moving in the right direction.
  3. I swapped in the walbro 255. Acceleration is greatly improved. It didn't fix the misfire-like problem that I am having though. I was pretty hopeful it would. So tomorrow I am going to build a boost leak tester and see if I can find any leaks. I would be surprised if I did since I have replaced the entire intake system as well as most of the vacuum lines. I want this thing fixed!!! I hope it isn't a bad piston ring or something.
  4. I swapped out the original fuel injectors with a spare set that I had. The spare set tested 11.6 ohm each and were within FSM specs (11/12 ohms). There was a noticeable gain in performance. The Walbro 255 should arrive in the next day or two and I look forward to installing it.
  5. The only thing that detracted from the pics was the human in the frame. Save that for your facebook.
  6. I replaced the fuel filter. Car is running much better now and I can't wait to install the Walbro 255. I think it may fix my hesitation/misfire problem. I tested the ignition coil and injectors. The ignition coil is within specs but the injectors are 0.5-2 ohms off. Once I install the Walbro I'll let you know if I need to replace the injectors.
  7. Sweet Baddog! You'll have to ask subikid to fab you a turbo inlet elbow/coffee can intake! I ordered a Walbro 255 fuel pump for the SS. The correct model is the GSS341 400-791 if anyone cares to know. It should be plug and play. We'll see if this helps my problem. I also want to check the injectors, coil pack, and get a smoke test in case I still have some vacuum leaks.
  8. Ugh, my SS is running like complete shit. I'm getting really frustrated. It is very very slow to accelerate and then when it finally picks up it bucks and feels like there is a crazy misfire or explosion occurring. I did put new wipers on it today though. There is a sale at Pep Boys on RainX lattitude wipers. Buy one get one free with mail in rebate until the 15th. They work great!
  9. The heater quit working on the SS while my wife drove it to work. I'll check it out tomorrow. Hopefully it is just a fuse. Nothing happens when she turns it on. If I'm lucky I'll have enough time to install my subikid intake.
  10. I got the intake tonight. I'm super stoked! I can't wait to install it! It is even better in person.
  11. Yeah subikid! That's lookin' good. Sent you a pm. It's Giants vs. Packers right now and it's not looking good for my team at halftime. But the intake will make up for it if things don't go my way, lol.
  12. My hesitation problem came back after my epoxy repair. I looked under the hood and found one of the purge control solenoid valve vacuum lines had come loose. I stuck it back on and zip tied it. The straight connect PCV line I made seemed a little loose where it connected to the elbow so I ditched the OEM spring clamp and installed a hose clamp. I think that under boost the OEM spring clamp was insufficient. The epoxy repair looks great, BTW. I'm still chasing this stupid put-put problem. It goes away after I fix something, then something else breaks/splits and it comes back, lol. I can't wait to install my new custom intake soon. Hopefully if helps.
  13. The repair is holding up nicely as far as I can tell. My wife can actually pull out into traffic again. I'll move onto eliminating other possibilities for the stuttering soon.
  14. The OEM PCV to F-Tube connect has a 35 degree angle bend. It was putting a lot of stress on the nipple which caused it to separate. I made a straight connect out of a piece of the PCV tube that goes along the front of the intake mani. I put the boot back on and it is holding fast. The vf11 is spooling nicely again and I could hear the BOV once again. I'm still getting a stuttering/misfire problem though when I punch it. No CELs. I'd love to see if installing my SS 5MT would help with this at all but my wife likes her 4EAT. It's an annoying problem, but if I go easy on the gas the stuttering isn't too bad. When the car warms up it happens less. It could be a lot of things. Exhaust mani is loose, fuel pump sucks, clogged injector, another boost leak... I feel like I am just chasing the problem. When I install a new coffee can intake it may make things better.
  15. Washed the SS inside and out. Then I changed the oil for the first time since I rebuilt the 22T. I used 10W-40 this time. I used 5W-30 synthetic when I rebuilt it. The 5W-30 looked beautiful when I drained it. Always a good sign. Getting the oil filter wrench in the right position to get a good bite was a total bitch though. The exhaust mani made a super tight fit to get any purchase. There is a small oil leak coming from the driver's side cam seal. It isn't too bad so I'll fix it later. My new OEM turbo inlet elbow has split and is causing an annoying and semi dangerous boost leak. I used some JB Quickweld to fix it until I install a new custom intake. The repair seems solid. We'll see how long it lasts. I should be installing a new turbo inlet air intake any day now that will never split!!!
  16. Oh, cool! So what did you do exactly? I'd love to do this to the wife's SS! I am working on getting some 20G heads and intake mani for her as well. I have the tmic and a TD04, so she should be pretty happy when I install them.
  17. I hope you got an OEM thermostat. I just buy mine from the dealer. Only $23. Subies are picky. Anything but OEM and you are risking problems. 5MT! Sweet! My SS has a 4EAT. I have a spare SS 5MT that I want to swap in but I gave the SS to my wife for her DD and she likes the auto. If you run into any problems ask away.
  18. Nice lifted leggy! I won't hold it against you that you are from Colorado.
  19. I wish I had some fat strong friends who would work for beer. I came across this gem of a youtube video: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jiBF2mGxdw&feature=plcp]Colin McRae & Subaru Legacy RS - with pure engine sounds (Tour de Corse 1993) - YouTube[/ame]
  20. I went on a leisurely trip to the junkyard and found some good stuff: Driver's side visor that stays up, bug shield (Made in Australia ) that doesn't quite fit on my '93 but fits great on a pre-facelift model (guess I'll take it back unless one of you kids wants it), two 6.5 Pioneer coaxials (sound awesome), two 6.5 Bose rear fill speakers (also sound great), door protector trim for my bud's second gen wagon, a set of OEM tweeters for a second gen (also for my bud's second gen). It was a good day for perusing old cars. I also found a Brat. The shell was in pretty good shape actually. I would love to pick it up and restore it, but the pick n pull doesn't sell the shells. I installed the four speakers and for only $20 it is a pretty dramatic improvement. I paid $80 for the same set of Pioneers that I put in my second gen. The SS is my wife's DD so she is super stoked.
  21. I'll try and figure out why my bud's lights aren't working then. Thanks.
  22. scoobydoo73, I turned on the blinkers and they didn't light up in that capacity either. Maybe it is a coincidence that two first gens I checked didn't work. I would love to see a video.
