  1. There is a rusted out (for a CA car) Datsun 510 wagon that's used as a workhorse near me. Such a cool wagon.

On the Outback front - going to replace all my wheel bearings / brake rotors / brakes. Ordered NSK for the rear. haven't settled on the front. My wagon just sounds loud inside and I am assuming it's worn out wheel bearings at 160k miles. I have had the same brake rotors for many many years and it's probably time for new ones. Going Project Mu on the front and super cheap $32 brake pads on the rear.

  2. I actually like vans, but no ground clearance for dirt roads and stuff :(.

There is a 3 inch lift available for the Sienna AWD and Ford is releasing the transit with AWD and the twin turbo v6 for 2020

SMOG exempt VW van sounds pretty good too. I was talking with a shuttle owner in Moab who uses the VW vans and said he burns a turbo up about every year, throws a new one on (Subaru turbos) and keeps chugging along.

Unsure how that turbo blows and doesn't destroy the engine though. But, that would be pretty cool.

Old VW vans are pretty cool. Don't really relieve any "It's nice to have shit that doesn't break" stress though.

  3. Nope no Tribeca. I do have an AWD Sienna. It's great allows me to overpack and still have all seats free.

I can't believe Rebourne made it so long in an Evo X. I drove to Palm Springs and packed just for two people (plus all my biking gear and bike on the roof) and I was annoyed with how little room I had. My wife was sitting so close to me.

Have I mentioned how much I like sliding doors for carseats? They are the best. The minivan is also surprisingly sporty.

I know I am not going to sell anyone else on it. But, it's like a giant (poor fuel efficiency - just like my OBXT) wagon.

  4. Finally installed the Whiteline RSB. What a difference. I wish I had done this sooner. Took nearly four hours since I had to cut the old end links off the trailing arm. I can only imagine how easy this must be for you sunny SoCal guys who can unbolt their mufflers any old time. :spin:

Yep, I waited a couple years before I put mine on and was kicking myself that I waited so long. Should have done it ASAP.

  5. Don't you have BtSsm running on your car?

Yes, I used it to clear the code so I could use cruise control. My AFR looked normal. BtSsm was reporting 21 to 22 psi, so over boosting for sure. But I wasn't looking at WGDC, etc.

Mostly it was a it's 6am and I have been driving since 445am. I know it's caused by over boosting. I'll stop that from happening and deal with it all later.

Haven't dug through what else to look at yet.

Huh. So you could not tell the bite was better or something? If that's the case, then that discourages me from doing the swap. I might as well keep the OBXT rotor size and put more agressive pads.

For a DD the stock setup is great and lighter. Adding the weight to the front wheels was noticeable. More mass = more resistance to fade and better heat tolerance. Unneeded on most cars.

Better pads is all that's needed for a DD.

  6. I bet if you just tighten the oil filter slightly it goes away.

Went on a 900 mile road trip to Palm Springs and back. In the first 150 miles I threw a PO0244 code and pretty sure I was overboosting. High pitched whistling noise when the turbo spools passed 10 psi.

I out it in Intelligent mode and ignored it. My car feels really slow in Intelligent mode (I get like 11psi of boost instead of 18.5)

My hope is that something somewhere disconnected. It's also possible my EBCS is no longer working exactly as it should and needs to be pulled off and cleaned.

The whistling doesn't sound like metal on metal (or I am telling myself that) so pretty sure it's a hose / loose connection / pinprick.

At least I am telling myself that.

  7. Some of us do consider function before form.:eek:

Personally, knowing if it actually improved airflow (and thus reduced charge temps) would make me buy one instantly as I'm at the limit of my GS tmic as is.

BUT, thats a lot of leg work to find out if it actually does more than look good and not many of us are willing to do said leg work.

That being said, the CF one is amazing and I can't wait to see it on an OBP car.

umm if you are at the limit of your GS TMIC the next step is a FMIC. Not a prettier hood scope.

  8. Oh yeah, you don’t want the Nameless with 5” “mufflers”. It sounds better (read: louder) than stock and you’ll be convinced that it’s the greatest for a little bit. Then you’ll start being annoyed by the drone and the loudness. Check the classifieds, you’ll see them come up often used and there is a reason. Rhitter has mine now.

True dat. It's the boat I am in now. I have had it off for about a year because of that. I got it sounding pretty good. But, my sensitive ears need a little quieter.

  9. This is exactly the picture I was looking for, and in the same color too! TWINSIES!

Hoping that an 18x8 +45 with 245/40R18 will fit without too much work.

What kind of lip are you running?

You are going to have to roll something. I am sure. We have all had to. Even on OEM wheels + 225/55/17 tires I was wearing away my front fender liner.

If you want to cry a little, check out the Levorg STIs in this Jalopnik article from yesterday:

While I love the idea of it. I don't love that car. I think ours look better (especially the JDM models). that just looks awkward to me. I think a lot of it is it looks too much like a hatch back to me. The third window is too small.

I recently switched from H-Techs to Swifts on JDM LGT Bilsteins. The Swifts make a huge difference in the ride - way better than the H-Techs. Here is what they look like on 245/45/18's and 3/4" rear saggy butt spacers. Wheels are 18x8.5 +40 Enkei TS-9. Yes, I had to do some work on the fenders under the overfender.

Those were the wheels I was going to buy before I found my blue ones. It's great to see what my car could have looked like.

  10. Correction. I got the Bilstein setup from Pik1111. I think Xtea had a similar setup on the forum around the same time that I had looked at.

Found this pic from the archived 'For Sale' thread. (duh, I should have looked here first. Forgot I had asked Pik1111 the same question.)

It's easy to forget when we are sitting on parts.

if they were on a Legacy and you are planning on putting closer to Outback sized tires on them you will also "appear lower"
