  1. I want to add a funny side note about this "Snowplow" business. It was around the same time as the slightly more infamous "SGT Daddy" thread; A moment in LegacyGT history where the OP tried to convince many, many forum members that it was almost a design flaw that Subaru had not included hood louvers in the GT. He went on to convince us all that cutting Home Depot floor vents into our hood was DEFINITELY a good idea - this resulted in the thread turning into flames. Then along came JMP and his avatar at the time, a picture of him sitting in a NASCAR grinning inanely and his thread on his 'invention' of a front end aero splitter for the Legacy GT. Once again the suggestion to the forum at large, it was a good idea. Such was the time on the forum, the thread turned to flames quickly and while I was not the worst by far I certainly 'joined in the fun' - JMP6something899992888 - no one can remember that shit and neither did I particularly remember the thread because it was the times of Gire and other mods desperately trying to keep order and the ban hammer used to smash down daily as things regularly went out of control... (BMX, NoDRFT anyone?) Fast forward to late 2015. John has flown all the way to Massachusetts just to visit little me! He came because we had formed a friendship over many talks and the previously mentioned turbo. He got to drive the car I had put it in and we ended the afternoon sitting back at my home having a good long chat. As one would, he mentioned some of his other innovations one of which was a front splitter he once made for the Legacy and how a thread he made about it didn't go very well and they called it a snowplow. Distant and long since dormant wheels in my head started to turn... and suddenly as my blood ran cold and my heart sank to the bottom of my legs in the realization of just who JMP6889928 was and what I had once said to the guy now sitting on my couch, in my house, but a few feet from me and definitely within swinging reach... Fortunately it seemed John also didn't remember "Sigmafour" probably because well I hadn't been the worst but still, I owed him an apology and in doing so we had a look at the old thread and thank god, a good laugh about it. TLDR: Be careful what you say to strangers on the internet.
  2. On an 05 where the back seats don't go down too... Oh dear. Borrow a handy and reasonably intelligent small child, give them a screw driver and a Mining Helmet and feed them through the center seat hole... hope for the best. Oh wait, is this on a wagon? What plastic handle did you break - My wagon has no emergency interior handle... and worst case you might have to open a hole in the interior panel that you can find someway to patch later, maybe with a giant Subaru sticker... good lord, now if this were a sedan...
  3. Just to note, if you look through that Facebook page -you can discern Alberto moved to Florida and sold the business. I believe it's still open and the new owner if I am in possession of the most up to date information, is a very capable Subaru tech himself, works for Subaru and has been around and involved with Motive (working there and helping out AND a very friend of Alberto) since before they even opened in that location. So you're probably still in good hands there, but it's different hands and the business has changed - likely in respect to making appointments to get seen etc. but that I am not 100% sure about as I haven't been around since Alberto left.
  4. I am responsible for his website and we both decided to take it offline for an important reason quite some time ago. John and I have been talking about putting it back at some point. The email address for that domain still works... john@jmpturbos dot com and he is still checking it, I can see that. And he is still working on Turbos if you are nice to him, he is a reasonable chap and takes great care in the work and result. That said, the Turbo he customized for my beast (Based on my original AMR CXR500) has been PERFECT and it was in bad shape when he restored it. Since then I have put over 35K miles on that Turbo, with no issues. He knows his stuff... at least where Turbos are concerned, don't trust him with home made snow plows... (You will have to dig into history to figure that out if you don't get it...)
  5. shame it was the passenger side... I have an OE drivers side heated glass I will never use and would have sent you.

  7. Yep, that's him... I passed him again on Friday evening heading RT3 N and he saw me coming, rolled his window down and my GF and I exchanged the Subie Peace signs and kept blasting along... GT wannabe? I am not sure... it's a clean car but I don't know what the story is.
  8. sorry for length here... but a bit of background Sharing a thought here as I have been aware of a problem with my tune on the GT. I have an Aeromotive 13109 A1000-6 Injected Bypass Regulator with Aeromotive 15633 0-100 psi Fuel Pressure Gauge attached - I was dyno tuned back in September 2016 and things were fine - I have noticed more recently that under WOT in 3rd gear (or 4th on the new 6MT) the car misfires and collects a lot of knock value on the AP3 - Engine is fully built but still, not good way to carry on. I had, before I did the 5MT>6MT swap -a wonder if air was leaking in but I didn't get a chance to find out as I pulled everything apart to install the 6MT and once back on the road - misfired badly as 'usual' - stay out of WOT and car pulled well, I have started to pay attention to the problem and look for clues... seems to me the AFR was not great - too lean under boost generally. To add to complications, car has meth and a fuel strategy to remove gasoline under boost to allow the meth - so lots of places for this to have a problem but the meth has a flow sensor and I am not having a meth issue - this is gasoline or more air getting in than I expect. Car can make boost to almost 30psi with a now every custom JMP 20G based off an AMR CXR550 Okay... so here's what I have found - an immediate improvement by adding more fuel pressure with the aeromotive. Under the thinking of "WHAT HAS CHANGED?" - really nothing - I haven't added anything or changed anything on the fueling - methanol is fine, the mix hasn't been changed and the pre/post nozzles are good and clean and working and flowing properly (measured and replaced the super fine droplet nozzle in front of the turbo) The gauge on the aeromotive was reading approx 40psi during idle - gauge is under the hood so I can't see it when driving but I have increased to about 45/47psi at idle - and this has dramatically improved the car, better power, almost ALL issues with knock are gone and AFR's seem better - not perfect but I am 'shooting in the dark' a bit. I have never touched the Aeromotive FPR before, never tweaked it - I assume there is a spring in there which adjusting tightens the spring and increases pressure on the regulator - is it possible over time this spring in the FPR could have become 'weak' and over time been slowing lowering the fuel pressure - I don't have an idea or memory of what the gauge said back in 2016 because that would have been a sensible thing and I am not always so bright. So - any thoughts by people that may know or have seen a similar issue as so far, it seems like this has almost completely solved the problem with WOT and almost no misfires at all now, much better power with adding more fuel - AFR shows a richer response under boost - again not sure what it should be - seeing 11.5>11 or so on the wideband but think maybe richer would also be safer...
  9. I have seen a coupld of LGT's around - one I am not sure about - white Legacy sedan but no hood scoop floating around Drum Hill from time to time - NH plates and Invidea Exhaust and an offset front plate - front mount or no turbo, just riced? Who knows... didn't spot the FMIC if it had one. last Friday afternoon I traveled behind a DGM 07/09 with large rear diffuser, little black rear wing and rear spats, rally armors, Invidea quad exhaust and a cute little STI badge on the right side of the trunk - followed the car from Foxborough all the way up to the North Shore on 95N
  10. Ah! That will be Thomas and John... Good people. Always very helpful despite being a store where they seem big enough but claim they are only a little store and have almost nothing completely useful in stock.
  11. Finally a tiny bit of action on these lonely roads... darker grey 2.5GT - guess it must have been a diamond grey? 05/06 rear bumper though... Stromung like dual tip exhaust, aftermarket wheels and a bearded typical Subaru driver, who wasn't currently vaping... Rte 3 North near Drum Hill/Westford around 5.30pm
  12. This thread was the first build of the original engine which eventually broke just a tiny little bit here: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/help-my-sleeper-wont-wake-up-249225p3.html and so I built it again, five years ago... really really strong here: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/sigmafour-sleeper-build-number-2-259456.html And this is the build which is now busy working through as many 5th gears as it can consume...
  13. The new 6MT arrives tomorrow - it's been sitting in UPS Freight waiting, they wanted to deliver it yesterday but I am taking tomorrow and Friday off work to get a head start on the work so asked them for a Thursday delivery. I will start to update my other build thread and post some pictures there once I get really into it... I think I have most of the parts on hand I will need... flywheel arrives tomorrow too, and the ACT clutch arrived last week. Oh what fun...
  14. Invested in this car for so long, am not going to quit now! I have to update the other build thread - I think this is the first one that is with the stock engine... When the gearbox arrives I will start to document it all but not doing much that hasn't been done before. this car STILL makes me excited and smile - it's still like new inside, apart from a slightly frayed floor mat... It all works (with the exception of 5th gear is now a hole) and it's only getting better but still very good at hitting me in the pocket.
  15. I did it again. 3rd time... this time I was in 5th gear not changing gear like the previous times... mashed throttle and built boost immediately and turned 5th into another set of washers... I can't keep doing this anymore... I have learned my lesson. It's six speed gearbox time.
  16. I know it's been a while but I just noticed this question and honestly... I have stripped - and I mean STRIPPED 5th gear, not once but twice. Turned both pieces of 5th gear into washers!
  17. What's Facebook? It was heading towards Lowell I guess. Also saw a dark blue wagon on the side of 128 near Lynnfield around 6.40pm ish (yesterday) - I was hauling a trailer South and it was on the Northbound side - possibly broken down as it was on shoulder with hazards going... looked like it may have been a modified car... if I wasn't hauling and could have turned around I would have done.
  18. Whose QSM 07+ LGT with flaking green (winter beater) wheels, ski rack, yellowing rear number plate cover, and lots of stickers in the rear driver side quarter window is up on the back of a flat bed heading north on route 3 this afternoon?
  19. never heard of this guy before. Thought I knew of them all around here...
  20. Black wagon. Hamilton - behind my white wagon.
