Unclemat, you are correct, the gearing in the JDM boxes are shorter when it comes to the 5th and 6th gears. There is an added cost of around $2000-$2700 to add an LSD to the SpecB tranny. You could just add the STI tranny to the LGT and be done with it...not need a controller. It'll just default to 35/65 and thats it. It'll be like having a non-STI 6MT in there anyway. Talk to Stephen Clark at Innovative Automotive Performance in Arizona. I purchased a JDM Ver8 STi motor (7k miles) and a JDM Ver7 6MT (22k miles) from him a couple years back. When I dealt with him, his products were the some of the best import quality. Very clean and low mileage. He's a VERY patient man when it come to asking him questions.

UD, I'd save a bit of money and keep the BJ's in there. It isn't like they are very intensive to get to if something does occur. Visually inspect them, move them around in there range of motion and if they appear and "feel" okay, go with them.

I should have said USDM 05-06LGTs & 06B have R160s and steel supports. unclemat...I think we have learned by now that the Land of the Rising Sun has a higher ratio of OEM goodies per capita than the USDM market EVER will. No getting around that fact.

Spring swap walkthrough - Tein H-Tech's
Gator GT replied to mccorry's topic in Walkthroughs :: Performance Modifications
I used a Gear Wrench pass through for my spring install on my Bils and it busted. Good thing is that it has a lifetime warranty. I got a hold of GW and they sent me a new one rather quickly. -
I think it's aluminum and we got it on the 07/08's for a reason: we have the R180; 06B and all LGTs have the R160. (the aluminum is probably a method to counterbalance the additional weight from the R180) Underdog: that is considered part of the sprung weight, because it is after the springs. If you can trace a component back to the wheel and "pass" through the spring before hitting the wheel, it is considered sprung weight.

yeah, hardcore Mike. I'd like to learn welding...but messing with the given geometry of the shifting assembly beyond a production unit (OEM or aftermarket) is pretty hardcore for me right now. Lengthening the rear shifter post....okay. Lengthening the shift rod itself? Good work man.

My gosh Bimmer, not a tolerant or patient person are you? I'm siding with sebberry on this one. Did you even think of putting a small strip of black tape on the back of the airbag icons in the maplight location instead of ripping out the LED?? You in the demolition business?? -
