  1. Mustangs are all over the board. It means nothing to beat one or get beaten by one IMO. I don't spend any effort trying to out knuckle-drag the local knuckle-draggers. They have a lot more experience at being douchey than I do. I'd basically be setting myself up for failure, even if I "win".
  2. 400's is a number. EFI has a great dyno database if you're interested in relative power gains for various parts: http://www.efilogics.com/dyno/ Plug "20G" into the search and see what you get.
  3. You're right. It would make more sense for him to offer no warranty at all from a business perspective. Thankfully he is willing to offer irrational goodwill to customers. Nobody knows about risks for the 5th gen. Hardly any aftermarket turbos installed anywhere. I can count the ones I know of on one hand and still have enough fingers left over to get myself in trouble in a few different ways. Fewer still that have hit 100k+ on a stock turbo.
  4. It would be if he weren't in the business of aftermarket go-fast mods. Either you're willing to make sure the component is operating in an optimal environment or you can deal with it when it if it goes boom. Sounds reasonable to me. Who else warranties aftermarket big turbos?
  5. There's one specifically for 5th gen. I haven't dug it up myself yet. My alignment guy found it when we were chatting.
  6. Not sure about best. The whiteline kit is most popular from what I can tell.
  7. I'm low enough to start pissing me off now. Not sure I'd call it "slammed": http://i46.tinypic.com/331g713.jpg
  8. 215/55/r17 is almost bang on for the speedo. 225/50 puts you a little quick.
  9. I've heard tell of a number of Cali events from the veterans around here. I'll ask them for leads.
  10. I assume you've looked at SCCA? Events around here tend to either be SCCA or LOL. She's super, SUPER competitive and I have a natural knack for a lot of the games/activities she likes. This does not end well; often with me winning, saying absolutely nothing about it, and then hearing about how over-competitive I am for the next 4-6 weeks. The logic is: she doesn't win = everyone else is over-competitive. I assume this is a byproduct of growing up with a couple brothers near the same age. Anywho... lately I've noticed a few games/activities where we can co-op have been going over really well. This might be one of those activities assuming she has enough aptitude for it to feel like she's doing a good job and she manages to make it through the entire event without driving me bats#&% crazy.
  11. You think that's nerve wracking? My wife will be co-driving for me for the first time in December... Still undecided on if this is the best or worst idea I've ever had. We shall see...
  12. Not too shabby for the first outing: http://i45.tinypic.com/15mzry0.jpg 1st in class and 6th overall (big tie for 4th) out of 37 total entrants.
  13. Gearing up for the first rally of the "winter" season tonight, though there is no snow on the ground yet. http://www.rallymasterpro.com/tombstone/index.php The Tombstone Trail is about as close to a legendary local road rally as we have. I'm excited to run it for the first time. It's a "scavenger hunt" style gimmick rally through rural graveyards that sells out every year.
  14. Not sure how the fluid change works on the 5EAT. There might be some pressurized hijinks that ups the labor cost. In the MT it's like changing engine oil.
  15. Woah, that's obnoxious. I'd hit up an MNS member. You're talking $50 in fluid (if ordered through Minnetonka Subaru with the MNS discout) and 30 minutes of actual labor (assuming a MT, not sure on AT).
  16. Quick note: If you're interested in attending get your hands raised NOW. Final count for the free food is going to the caterers TODAY.
  17. Well, first put this in classifieds instead. Then post it in classifieds on mnsubaru.com.
  18. If you're interested in trying a "subaru" meet, I would suggest the Subies 4 Boobies cruise Sunday, 10/24/12. We're cruising from Maple Grove to St. Cloud Subaru via a "scenic" route. St. Cloud Subaru is donating $10 for each car we bring out. Proceeds go to Scoobies for Boobies foundation. Here's the info thread on mns: http://mnsubaru.com/threads/10-21-scoobies-4-boobies-event-cruise-and-raffle-st-clould-subaru.39551/
  19. MN Garage Geeks is doing one this Saturday.
  20. I like to crank it up IRL. Idiocy is the spice of life.
