  1. So I'm sitting in L&D with my 34 week pregnant wife....contractions 5 minutes apart. They gave her a shot to try and slow them down. Really not ready to have a baby tonight
  2. Do not refer to your wife's upcoming maternity leave as a vacation. I learned this the hard way
  3. If I'm going to skip work I would rather it be for something more fun than a sick kid
  4. I think I would rather deal with a sick 5 year old that can tell me what's wrong and blow their own nose We have a nanny and it works out great.
  5. We had our level 2 ultrasound yesterday. Because my wife had a vertical and horizontal c section, there is a greater risk of a rupture. So, they moved up our due date from Nov 15 to Oct 25. Guess I need to start working on the nursery
  6. Yeah, I'm sure that deterred an 18 year old boy
  7. I picked up a 12 of Summer Ale and a 12 of Oktober last weekend, same grocery store
  8. After work today I'm sitting on the couch ,enjoying a Sam Adams Oktoberfest. My two year old walks up, points and the bottle and says "dada milk" I repeat "dada milk, cheers" and toast her sippy cup full of milk. She responds "cheers" and lifts up her sippy cup of milk to toast. She repeated that exchange like 10 times, running all around the room pounding back almost the whole cup of milk and finishing with "ahhhhhhhhh"
  9. 50 rules for dads of daughters. http://lifetoheryears.com/50rules Some good stuff in there: 1. Love her mom. Treat her mother with respect, honor, and a big heaping spoonful of public displays of affection. When she grows up, the odds are good she’ll fall in love with and marry someone who treats her much like you treated her mother. Good or bad, that’s just the way it is. I’d prefer good.
  10. My daughter turned 2 today. She got some toys from her grand parents and cup cakes. I get to assemble her IKEA kitchen tomorrow night, party on Saturday
  11. Our just about to be 2 year old does the same thing. She asks for something, nibbles at it, then wants something else. Considering she isn't even 20 pounds yet (she was premature) we tend to give in a lot just to get the calories in. Is he a big milk drinker? Our little one goes through about a 1/4 gallon a day, so she gets a lot of calories from that.
  12. Didn't your daughter just graduate? And she can't lock the door when she takes a shower??
  13. The base with audio and video goes wherever...there is another sensor that goes under the mattress.
  14. It does just about give you a heart attack ours went off at least once a night. So you get up, stumble out of bed, trip over the dog and run in and wake a sleeping baby. And while you can use it without the motion sensor, the actual monitor sucks.
  15. We had one of those angel care monitors with the heartbeat sensor. It's supposed to prevent sids, but at least for us, all it did was give false alarms and wake us up every time the baby fell asleep.
  16. We had our 18.5 week ultrasound this morning. Having another girl
  17. My wife got up with the little one on Saturday and Sunday so daddy got to sleep in. Sunday she went out and got McDonald's breakfast. Also scored a couple fathers day gifts--dewalt jig saw and a voucher to spend a day driving a NASCAR at charlotte motor speedway. I think she went a little overboard Had some family in town and they all came over for some bbq. Always fun having a few beers with my old man
  18. We were in a rental house on old highway 98, right across from Pompano Joe's. We got married about 2 miles down the road at the Henderson Park Inn 3 years ago. It was nice to be back, I can definitely see making it a yearly vacation. The white sand and gulf water is gorgeous.
  19. Damn dude, how long ago was that?????
  20. We took our 22 month old on our first family vacation last week. 7 days, 1200 miles from Charlotte to Destin, FL on the gulf coast. Her reaction to the beach varied based on the day but all in all, she had a great time. One day she loved it, the next, she wouldn't touch the sand or go in the water. And one day, all she wanted to do was walk around the beach. Of course she was too independent to want to hold hands, so she would try and walk up to people, say "hai" and grab their stuff Taking her hand resulted in a meltdown, so we ended up at the pool. One of her big highlights seemed to be drinking a virgin pina colada. At the least, it occupied her for almost an hour
  21. My wife is out of town so I'm solo dad this week. Saw the little one up and moving around her crib this morning on the monitor so I went in to get her. "Hai" as soon as I walk in, huge smile on her face. She wouldn't let me pick her up until she picked up each stuffed animal and gave it a huge hug. Times like this make me wish she would always be this young and innocent.
