  1. It got inspected from Subaru, Now it's in the body shop then after it's going into the detail shop.

    It will need the following

    - Front rotors/pads

    - Brake fluid was low but need to be change

    - Lower control arm bushing

    - Oil change

    - Air Filter

    - Cabin Filter

Then after that I part ways with the Legacy. I'm donating it to my father in-law because I bought a replacement vehicle. That remind me I need to return the rental vehicle.

Sad to hear but only slightly. Its nice you can keep it in your family. Cheers

  2. I had the same thing happen on a trip to Boise a few years ago....hit a piece of curb stone that was laying by a parking lot entrance......going slowly but pretty much the same damage. Tire was destroyed and rim was much like yours....ever so slightly out of round at the outer bead but not where the tire seats against the rim. You can get it straightened pretty easily but it probably makes no difference as it is. Mine was one of my OZ Crono rims....after we checked it with the tire off I decided to just leave it as is.........makes no difference to balance or driving. Have your alignment checked though.

This[emoji3516]Only because the lip is bent in the inside can it be fixed . Lots of mobile wheel repair. Dent wizard is one company that has an international presence although their focus is US. Get a tire balance and an alignment check to make sure nothing is out of wack.

Usually when one component absorbs impact minimally like that, there can be more components that either absorbed the impact. Best to do a check on those things and then be aware of any vibrations above 45 mph

  3. Realistically you aren’t checking tire pressures once a month as recommended so you should know that, at least in my 5th gen, it does not give specifics as to which tires is low. It makes a difference only if other vehicle sensors are swapped on (winter -> summer).

If it gives you peace of mind, you can spend the money on a tool to resync the sensors. I don’t find it worth it.

  4. Weird idea but on these cars, have you tried loosening and then retightening all the exhaust flanges?

The exhaust can be bound up and cause a seriously weird vibration. Had it happen on a supercharged rs4 cab once and it took forever to track down but it fixed the issue.

I know it’s a long shot and assuming exhaust components have been r&i in the period of time where a thermal expansion and binding may occur (I.e. 3 seasons)

  5. JULY 1ST, 2020

Drove 50 miles or so to Indiana to pick up a Perrin Steering Damper Lockdown for $40 because I'm always a hound for a deal. Installed new with an actual allen wrench instead of getting an allen key socket. What a f*cking pain in the ass (and fingers for that matter). Note of advice to anyone doing this mod: get a damn allen socket and a ratchet extension. Make your life easier.

How did you like this? I was going to replace the entire shaft with joint but this looks well enough made and probably still helps to reduce vibration.

  6. Is there somewhere these or similar units can be shopped, that aren't so absurdly expensive? I'm a firefighter, not an infosec specialist lol

The 309 is absurd. The 409 isn’t bad I got it from pacificstereo for less than 700$. A good h/u is not gonna be cheap unless you aren’t concerned with upgrading a lateral move would be more affordable but i believe anything less than 400-500 may be in vain if you have the HK or similar own system

  7. That's the non-nav headunit - it's basically a double-din unit and there are tons of options for replacements - if you search a bit, someone here even got a floating screen unit which looks pretty cool.

I got an alpine halo ilx f409. That’s probably the floating screen he referred to. It works great, I love it, and I get compliments on it all the time from passengers.

I think it sits quite nicely. There is a YouTube video where someone installed it lower on a legacy as well.

Hopefully that doesn’t break any rules.

  8. The intake was again primarily for the looks and sound, I knew when I bought it I wasn't going to make any meaningful power with it
sounds reasonable to me. You got it.

    hurt the car
    nope

    or my reliability
    nope

    need a tune
    nope

if so how to go about getting one :)
XRT tuning but it’s not as cheap as an intake. Definitely look into working with a local leghead to borrow a cable to reduce costs.

I’m glad you like your car and I am sure we as a community can continue to be supportive and answer your questions.

  9. if they list it as fitting the 05-15 outback, one would have to assume it lso fits the 10-14 legacy :) just messing but yes, it fits!

I have it in my vehicle for the emergency response vehicle strobes, I didn’t know that it helped with led voltage discrepancy too.

    Confirmed to fit 10-14 legacy

  10. In my opinion it isn’t really worth the money. I’m not sure about harm but your vehicle is designed to use the stock intake to cancel out harmful (to power) sound waves and increase turbulence in a way that improves efficiency.

I would look into tuning your vehicle BEFORE you buy physical modifications. If you can find someone willing and able to tune it, then you can make more power with the intake. I don’t think it’s common if at all an occurrence to tune the cvt legacys

  11. I am going to agree, it’s unlikely; however, not impossible. I’m not sure the logistics of how a torque converter affects engine load at an idle / in neutral. I only know that a clutch issue can do so with a manual transmission in particular situations in my own experiences.

Sounds like it isn’t trans / torque converter related so I am stumped.

  12. No idea how long a belt tensioner would last if “going bad” but maybe if it’s been this long, then it is a rotating assembly of some sort. It could be relative to the torque converter too. Not sure how it is engaged at an idle but again: a physical component without sensors is all I can figure.

Definitely get an old school mindset if the sensors say everything is fine. Proper diagnostic process can save a lot of grief but some of these old heads have seen it all

  13. Are you asking about a re-key on a single lock or replacing a locking unit?

A rekey is a YouTube thing. I’ve never done it, but it can be done. If you saved the unit from your original junkyard replacement, you may even be able to swap the lock core

Replacing a locking unit. The entire door latch assembly is a one and done. I think.

I am honestly hoping that with my response, more will chime in with accurate, experience based feedback.

I will ask my locksmiths on Monday to verify

  14. It’s a long shot but it’s possible a belt tensioner/ pulley may be in the process of locking up. Considering the complete technical data, I’d say it’s not likely you would have missed but it’s all that I can think of. I’m pretty positive that fuel/ electric issues would be demonstrated to a degree that you can recognize if that was the issue. The ONLY other possibility I could entertain would be bad fuel, did you fill up at a different station? Again a long shot so sorry if I’m just beating a dead horse.
