  1. The new DSS shaft has UJs in the front and they hit the body necessitating some adjustments. After that the seal started leaking and the shop replaced. The noise/vibrations, and new leak are subsequent to that and I'm thinking the UJs rapping the body may have damaged stuff in the output shaft area. Was hoping for guidance...
  2. Thanks, but my concern is damage to the output end of the AT causing the noise/vibration and failure of the seal just replaced within a week.
  3. Sorry for long story....I had replaced the driveshaft with a Driveshaft Specialists unit that, due to the design (and bad luck), had hit the underbody intermittently (esp upon sharp turns) after install and necessitated some adjustment to fit without hitting. Now there is a noise and vibration at varied RPMs and fluid leaking from the rear seal. The seal was replaced once after presuming the shaft hitting the body may have taken our the original seal. The noise/vibration persists and the replaced seal is leaking again. Almost 180k mi on the car and I have Climber's F1 mod that has been great. No apparent problems with the tranny performance except for the noise/vibration/ repeated leak. Any thoughts/experience with symptoms and suggestions as to whether this can be repaired (e.g., checking/replacing upstream elements in the extension case...) and whether this should be something the dealer shop should evaluate as my local generic shop hasn't given me the utmost confidence with this install. Again - sorry for the length, but need help. The car is otherwise still going strong at Stage2.
  4. Killington - back when the wagon and the Specialized were newish. Both still going strong. No injuries that trip...
  5. Another plus - mtn biking can provide you with better balance, and depending on the terrain, a great upper body workout as you push/pull over rock/root features!! Me, too! No wreckage, and love that "good tired" feeling. As my long time biking pal says - "re-cycle"
  6. Hey Latent!! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/08/c974af3a9abfb313f7d67e7a64154688.jpg
  7. Nice trails BraddA! I see a lot of opportunities for catching some air! And I that a woman in a black dress down the trail?
  8. Not a dire need, but a different IC will change the airflow dynamics... just banter, not bicker...sorry for obscure reference
  9. C'mon...Tightened mine, both ends (no more elefantz noys), while I was in there topping off teh earl and los vindshieltvasser fruid mit das silikonschmaltz...and broke a friggin' viper but had replatzment Valeo 24. All at 15F.
  10. 172k mi on mine and no body corrosion or significant frame rust noted underneath. I "de-salt" at least weekly, though we are trapped in a vortex here in the NE...more coming thru Tuesday...
  11. Is yours MT or AT? Since it's gotten colder, my 5EAT makes a (also hard to describe (almost) RPM-dependent 'whirring/clattery' noise) only when in gear and until warmed past about 1/3 of the way to ~180F-ish. Seems to be evident more toward the driver's side. You?
  12. oy...triple Jebus then. Yeah, Santa Cruz.
  13. Jebus! The prices! ... My 2003 Spec Enduro Comp FSR is still rolling. If I was 10years younger I'd put my studded Nokians back on and go for a ride in the 14 Fahrenheit degree weather...
  14. Just rolled over 170k mi on the wagon. Still going strong. >70k mi on stage 2. Recently rehab'd the starter (just in time for below 0 temps) and preemptively replaced the crank pulley. Oh, and forgot that I had to replace the radiator couple months back - the typical crack at the top...
  15. Great stuff! Funny - I had an '86 T-type for 22 years that, once I got on the "ura-buS", I couldn't envision trying to fix all the GM-inherent issues, so I sold it @ 94kmi for $500 less than I paid for it in 1988. Keep up the madness!
  16. Turned out to be the front driver's side bearing, though I also replaced the driver's side rear as there was noticeable play... that's 3/4 wheel bearings in ~5 years (rear, rear, and front). So, of course I got another front for when the passenger side goes...
  17. Thanks. My 3 season tires (Contis) are on my stock rims and ready to slap on and get another alignment just to ensure things are still OK with the WL LCAs.
