Can you really confirm that it is in fact a dual range transmission? As far as I know, only ADS in Australia makes these. And it appears that they only make them dual range for 5MT trans, not 6MT. Please, prove me wrong. That would be awesome.

My lowered 06 SWP got a nice little compliment from a Spanish speaking lady yesterday in a Walmart parking lot: while pointing at the car, she said "Esta bonita"

Dumb question, but isn't there a ground wire that need to be connected to the unit as well? If yes, did you make sure you put that one back?

Only way to fix the sticky dash is to replace it with another one. That's what I am going to do (been saying that for 5 years ).

It's always the TOB for me. It wears before my discs. Great work! Sounds like we were working heavily alongside one another this weekend in the garage. I spent about 26hrs in the garage rolling fenders, installing wheel studs, wheel bearings, pads, and rotors in all four corners. I also put in new inner tie rods, new ball joints, new end links up front, and regrease the swaybar bushings, all on both sides. fixed my oil sandwich plate leak. It seemed half of that time was cleaning off parts, and anti-seizing them for reassembly.Β
26 hrs is insane! Although now that I look back, I probably spent 16hr on Saturday and at least 5hr on Friday. Yeah, I am slow I guess.. But, I'd rather be slow and careful and do the job just once.

What are your thoughts on the blast plates?
I can't provide any feedback since I can't push the car at this time. I hate clutch break-in period

Did a thing this weekend. Received my clutch kit from ZFdesign Friday. Removed the trans Friday night. Spent the whole day Saturday installing the new clutch, installing new rear main seal, driver side inner cv boot and also installed the Klein blast plates. I really had to fight to get that transmission back on the engine. Almost gave up. That step took forever. Clutch feels pretty good right now. But I am sore everywhere!
Old clutch disc had missing pieces to it. Wasn't long until total failure like last time!

OEM style radiator are quite inexpensive actually. Pretty easy to replace.

it started off by dropping to 500 sometimes, then to 300, then stalling and restarting itself constantly at idle because it just can't hold it anymore.
as for my spec b, I think something's really wrong with it because when driving it to the shop today, I kept it in 2nd as I took a right turn onto a main road, and suddenly the car wouldn't accelerate after the turn. the engine was still running, trying to weirdly hold idle while I was actually on the throttle, stuck in the middle of the road. only after I downshifted into first and gave it some more gas, it started to rev up and get going. the car also stalled 3 times by itself when I was trying to back out of my parking spot, and also stalled immediately when I parked at the shop while my foot was fully depressing the clutch. the motor itself runs strong with no knock from what I can tell, but all these inconsistent issues around the motor are quite annoying.Β starting to get tired of all these problems.
Are you logging? How are your long term fuel trims?

I mean, while you wait, you could also go to a junkyard and pick up an OEM unit and test the thing. Sure, it'll be annoying to also remove the JVC unit though.

Oh. That's not the stock one then.

Well, driver side exterior front door handle just stopped working . It's not the actuator. It's the handle. Will have to take it apart tonight..

I thought the 2008+ wrx undertray fits our car no?

It is not exactly a trans jack but it does the job well. This is the one I got about 7 years ago. Still working great. And yeah, I jacked the car high enough so I could eventually put the trans on my bench and take the thing apart!

Edit: talk about inflation.. As you can see, it is listed at 254$. I checked my receipt and paid 99$ in 2017. Exact same thing. WOW!

I did drop the trans twice (on two different cars) and yeah, it is definitely a pain in the butt to remate the trans to the engine. That's the hardest part. The rest is not bad. I feel it is less work than removing the engine.

We need to get rid of this English measuring system

Wallet hurts right now :(. Just bought a new clutch kit and flywheel as well as blast plates for the trans. I contacted ZFdesign, described my current engine/turbo setup, explained my driving style including the light offroad type of stuff we do. He did advise to go with the copper backed 9 pad. We shall see how it goes.. Looking forward to separate the engine/trans on this particular car for the fourth time.. Last time I pulled the engine. This time, I will drop the trans.

When I was having my car all built, I went Stage 2 +, I knew my VF52 that I got modified would need to hold the power. I also do not go nuts in the car.
What are you running now?

wait. I thought you gave or sold the car to someone. How come you're doing the work?
