  1. What I think is funny is if you go back and read a lot of the posts people made about how great the car shifted after installing the IPT valve body. Higher line pressure sure must cure a lot of ills, either that, the placebo effect, or people didn't want to admit blowing $769 + install costs. No doubt the higher line pressure did save a lot of trannys, but I don't think it really helped the overall shifting much.
  2. It was really easy and simple. I did what I do best when it comes to cars, I just swiped my credit card at a local well respected transmission shop, and $5k later I had a race transmission rated for 450whp and the only known LGT with a modified TransGo 350Z shift kit (until Dave gets his installed). Its all documented in other various threads (5EAT Pride, TransGo Guinea Pig, etc.) so just click on my screen name and look at posts 02/10 onward, so as not to derail Cimber's thread here.
  3. LGT 5eat car year? 05 IPT VB mod already performed? Yes and No....had one very briefly and replaced it with the TransGo Kit. Are you willing to pay close to but less than IPT prices (perhaps again) for a proper shift kit modification performed by fellow 5eat performance enthusiast ClimberD himself? Yes, if I hadn't already had mine upgraded to a TransGo in 02/10. A big thanks to Dave for getting beyond the smoke and mirrors and bringing some transparency to this modification! Based on my experience there's no comparison between the IPT valve body and the TransGo kit, so if Dave can deliver anything close to or better than what I have (which I am confident he will) there will be a lot more 5EAT Pride!
  4. Can you say $2.00 RadioShaft resistor to increase line pressure. Next you're going to tell us there's no Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, or Santa.
  5. They put in extra clutches for my 4th & 5th gears when they installed my TransGo kit. I believe they had to remove some material from the case to allow them to both fit, and they said there wasn't room for anymore than the two extra clutches.
  6. As far as I know, I am the only one running a TransGo kit in the 5EAT. Look at the 5EAT Pride thread. My transmission installer said this is nothing that should be attempted by anybody who doesn't have years of transmission experience (he has +25 years). Furthermore he works with TransGo to test their parts. What he put in my car was not just a standard 350z kit, but it was the basis for the upgrade. He said TransGo swapped out some parts, and I guess the holes they drill might be slightly different. He did other things too when they rebuilt my transmission like adding extra clutches for both fourth and fifth gears, welding the torque convertor, added some stainless steel parts (can't remember what exactly), and I am sure I left out some stuff as well. Don't think they did anything with the resistor mod, but I could be wrong. Its been running great now for several months and several thousand miles. Overall I am very pleased so far.
