Cyl 4 misfire - new plugs
NORULZleggy replied to Mr. Electric Wizard's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Yes you do , come down in this money pit with the rest of us. lol -
I just telling people to do it the right way so they have piece of mind and have no real issues down the road. People need to know these cars will break your heart and wallet. My shop an tuner always tell me how I can do it the cheap way and come back to spend more money or add a few more bucks up front and be fine. To me it's cutting corners, but to the OP it might not. It took me three years and saving money all the money and parts so I could build the car I wanted debt free. Just do not be in a hurry to do things. I have seen to many people by these subies and then say they hate them cause the motor went a year later. People need to know when they buy these cars, they are not the typical run of the mill sedan. You have to be good to these old gals.

New Parts-Tune-Driveability
NORULZleggy replied to MDSubie4's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
you have to have the stock TGV's custom done, with the butterfly removed, but keep all the other stuff there. I have had it on my car for years now with no problems. Also flex fuel was never something I wanted to do. My shop and tuner talked about it and they said it not really worth it. I have put the hurt on many WRX with flex kits with no problem. -
Never trust anything that's 100 bucks turbo wise. Have it rebuilt PLEASE.

New Parts-Tune-Driveability
NORULZleggy replied to MDSubie4's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I have an 05 LGT also man and you can use the Cobb V3 to get a tune from your tuner to get tit to them wit the parts you have that are installed. I still have my Cobb and my shop and tuner said do not get rid of it. I do have my custom TGV deletes and all the stuff people are scared about on my car. I going back in just for bigger turbo, Ewag setup, and new protune. DO NOT BE SCARED. Just do not cut corners, yes it might cost more but oh well. -

Cyl 4 misfire - new plugs
NORULZleggy replied to Mr. Electric Wizard's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I run Intermotor on many of my turbo subies when I have misfires. I swear they are a Subaru OEM part in just a plain white box from rockauto. I have never been let down by them. -

I second this. Will some one approve:lol:. -
To answer your question about the TGV's, What the shop did was mod my stock one's so that the car would stay in spec and have no cel on. I had bought IAG deletes on the forums but they were wrong. So they modified the stock ones to do that same thing as the IAG ones do. I they also sold them for what I paid for them for me. You can have everything you want done to your car, I was told you just cannot cut corners, and custom work needs to be done. This shop works on rally cars, track cars and other built subarus. I talked to the owner and he said do not worry about the EPA crap, bring your parts and it will be done with no cel on the dash. I have not had a cel or check engine light for 3 years. "I think pulling the butterfly out but leaving the actuators, rod assembly, etc is the answer." ---- this is what I have done

Current tuning solutions
NORULZleggy replied to relative4's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
You all are killing me here, I have all this stuff plus tons more on my car and I am getting tuned with via AP3 with no problems for my new setup, I know people who are getting tuned as we speak with no issues. -
Your setup is pretty close to mine, I should be at 350 plus after i get my parts install and retuned. I will not be on E85, just 93. The car will handle the power, even a STI short block as long as you drive it like a normal person and as long as you roll into it. It will die if you beat it to death. I still plan on going STI 6MT in a few years, or if this one dies.

I have the TGVs gone, I do have highflow cat in my DP and all sensors, and none of my stuff is by passed on my 06 LGT. I am telling you, I will be getting my car re-protuned, and there will not be a problem even with having the AP. I am actually going 2 hours from my house where they smog check and do heavy emissions stuff. will report back to you once it done. The tuner assured me there will not be problem. This same type of thing came around when it came to inspection back in the day. people still get done one way or another.

Current tuning solutions
NORULZleggy replied to relative4's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
You can still use cobb access port, the problem i was told it that people who want to go the cheap route to tune there cars are the ones that will have the problems. You can still get a ton of power and pass emissions with no problem. I been saying this for a while, don't cut corners. Keep all the CARB legal stuff.
