FAQ: Subaru Legacy 2.5i
N.sane replied to katalyst's topic in Naturally Aspirated Powertrains (2.5i, 3.0R, 3.6R)
As far as lowering springs goes, anything used on the GT can be used on te 2.5i no problem. Our cars are a little lighter than the GT/Spec.B, but there's gonna be a very marginal difference. It's like the difference between having a passenger and not having one. I've had springs that were "meant for a GT" for over a year now without any issues. -

I tried installing the Group A one myself and failed. You need an impact gun for sure. I'm gonna get my shop to do it Here's Group A's instructions for it: http://groupa.ca/installs/groupa_pulley_instructions.pdf It'll probably be the same, if not similar, process for your Perrin one. -

Sounds good. I was interested in it too but I wonder if it's really worth it. Here's a cheaper version made by Ryouske using Spectre intake piping http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a201/Ryutsuki/spectre.jpg -

OEM diameters are 20mm front and 15mm rear, so 22mm front and 19mm from the Rallitek kit should makes things neutral according to them. For endlinks, some people are using stock with their aftermarket sways without issues. If I were to upgrade I'd get the Rallitek HD, OEM design with beefier materials, and a 5 year warranty. -

most LGT cat-backs have a 3" diameter. I believe the SPT cat-back is 2.5", I'm not sure but blackfang is using one on his 2.5i. There arent any 2.5i specific cat-backs. I'd just get a set of mufflers and call it a day, unless you score a great deal on a cat-back. It wont yield much gains either way on our non-turbos. Money is best spent on the suspension for our cars. -

It works, but it's not recommended. The LGT cat-back piping diameter is larger than ours, which means you reduce the efficiency of the engine and actually lose some power. -

install guide is here: http://www.omods.com/index.php/mods_article/subaru_guides_wrx_0204_engine_phenolic_spacer_intall_guide Looks like it may take a while to install. Btw, are you using any aftermarket end links or brackets for your Rallitek sway set? -

Here's a link to the spacers from Grimmspeed's site: http://www.grimmspeed.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=60_54_58&products_id=56 Lightweight pulleys dont effect temperature, but reduces unsprung weight (rotating mass), almost like a set of lighter wheels. -

Be careful with bigger sway bars though, make sure you've got decent tires to match or else the bars will break the tires traction at the limit. Regarding the intake manifold spacers, potential to be greatest benefit is because it makes the engine run at a lower temperature. Lower temperature means more power. -
^with that being said, which order do we go in? There seems to be much confusion in the posts above about the order...

^doesnt seem to be the most appropriate thread to post about brakes, but yes, the WRX 4-pots are a downgrade from the LGT brakes. -

You're part of the support too Paul That's a friggin' hot avatar btw hotter than the Marina avatar you had before -
NASIOC would be your best bet, I dont think you can buy them new from the dealer anymore since it's from 2004. Keep in mind 2005+ doesnt fit because it switched to 5x114.3 bolt pattern

I'm assuming you got bigger/heavier wheels? Rotational mass has a significant effect on braking and acceleration, even handling too. If you want better braking, 1st step is better pads, I suggest Hawk HPS. Brake fluid is important too, I suggest changing that once a year. If you have the funds, search around for someone selling LGT calipers/rotors, it's a nice upgrade from stock. -

No modification whatsoever. I think the rear parking brake modification was for rear Brembo's swapped onto our cars.
