  1. Keefe may chime in here today....but he thinks it has to do with the engine pulling timing....common issue for most. (currently TDC st.2 93, had same issue with Cobb 1.15 st.2 93) He could feel the vibration in the floor board while in the passenger seat. The noise in the rear could be just the side effect of the engine pulling timing...causing the vibration. We found no suspension issues, car handles fine, no odd noises. No drive train issues either. After about 15-20 minutes the noise became harder and harder to reproduce and eventually we couldn't get it to do it at all. Next step...data log. BTW...drove Keefes car:icon_mrgr Thing sounds mean with that single straight pipe. Handles great!
  2. Sir Keefe, Lord of suspension and tires will be checking out my growling noise tomorrow. Let you know if we find anything concrete.
  3. sounds like a dealership doesn't it? the best is when they fix something and f something else up in the process.
  4. guy at work runs them all year round on his M3. 30 degrees out now....about to snow / sleet / rain tonight. dare devil.
  5. Found this in an IS forum. Thought it may be useful. Brandon from Tirerack writes.... [ultra High Performance All Season: Ok here is a list of the top 6 ultra high performance A/S tires in my humble opinion. I base this opinion on having driven on these tires mostly on IS 300's (our old test cars) as well as 03 BMW 330ci's. We have a test track here that has a slalom, a skid pad and and a sharp brake and turn. These are performance A/S tires and this track allows me to test the tires at its limits of cornering, traction, response and braking. These tires are not designed for the best ride quality but instead the best performance combined with light all-season traction. My primary considerations are as follows when judging performance A/S tires. A) Lap Times B) How the tire responds to steering input C) How it breaks off on the skid pad and in the slalom. D) Wet traction (we have sprinklers) E) Light snow and ice traction. Note: This list is limited to the brands that we sell and does not include Toyo, Falken, or Nitto. Top 5 Ultra High Performance A/S Tires: 1)Bridgestone RE960 PP 2)Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Simply the best. Michelin has made a tire with superb performance AND light snow and ice traction. This tire also rides very well. 3)Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S Very nice on the track but these will have marginal snow and ice traction. 4)Avon Tech M550 Surprisingly competitive with the more well known brands this tire is probably the best tire for the money. Rock bottom pricing make this tire attractive to the value shoppers. 5)Conti Extreme Contact Excellent ride, good performer, and of the tires listed this will have the best snow and ice traction. Its also very reasonably priced. Honorable Mention: Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z These tires are technically not a performance A/S tire they are a grand touring A/S tire but they are excellent performers and they compete often times with the Michelin A/S because both are available in many Lexus 17 inch wheel option sizes. I thought they were worth mentioning especially for you GS and LS guys that want the best combination of ride and performance. Brandon | Sales Specialist
  6. add me to the list straight line and cornering for me. maybe a good lube will help?
  7. I've got to locate a firestone shop. Looked at the paper last weekend. Mr. Tire was having a "sale". RE960 A/S, 225/45/17.....$243 ea. But thats on the rim and out the door. Man....that's about $100 a tire for balancing and valve stems....they better be gold plated.
  8. agreed the post to you can be taken as a bit harsh. but i believe the concern is that your comments were not on the topic of this thread. could the comments in the other post have been more kind...yes, but here's where we are. back on topic now: Folks, I think it's a good idea to have one thread with all tire reviews for our cars, like NASIOC does it. There are tons of reviews in here, but I think the information will be more useful for everyone if it is located in one thread. Please Sticky so that folks may have all tire info along with Keefe's great Wheel/Tire FAQ. For all posts, please answer the following questions. (I'm still rocking the stockers, so I can't post any helpful info at this time). thanks #1) What tire are you offering for review (size, model, type (summer, A/s, winter, race, etc), price paid, miles driven on tires, etc): #2) What is your geographic location: #3) What types of driving events if any (Track, AutoX, Commute , etc): #4) Percent of highway vs. city driving: #5) Tires used previously: #6) Your review and personal comments (Dry, wet, and snow, if applicable. Also, please compare to other tires used):
  9. any flat spotting? crap...just read your post. WTF! Why are all these tires flat spotting....960A\S, PNero M+S, and now the ASX..geezzz.
  10. anymore reviews on Kumho? Anyone with SPT's?
  11. Stock looking Silver GT sedan with a headlight out spotted on 95 south in Baltimore. You were sporting Ravens flags from each of the front windows. Post up. BTW....you would not have noticed me...driving my wifes black highlander at the time.
  12. Spotted White GT sedan turning left off Walther Blvd. onto Whitemarsh Blvd. yesterday morning. You gave me a wave...waved back...in Silver GT sedan.
  13. Asked around for you about Cusco fitting the Outback.....from PatagonianGT: yes. The set I bought (and sold) came from an OBXT owner. You will have to swap the rear bumpstops out for an LGT set though, as the OBXT has long ones. These are external to the suspension and easy to access, so no biggie.
  14. +1 Cusco's for 1 months....zero issues. LOVE THEM!
  15. nice write up! if you have not already...think about getting new tires. A great summer tire or a UHP all season will be a great improvement over the RE92's and contribute significantly to your handling.
