Kinda off topic but damn this looks sexy!

Doing my best to keep you guys updated
Sent the drawings out to get new plates laser cut, I'll be staying after work these next few days to make the new spacers as well.
I should have a finished set soon!
Awesome Vince!

So glad to have an AVO downpipe and twin Tial 38s to properly control boost.[emoji106]

Here are the 5MT plates I recently purchased for the day the Baja needs any trans upgrades. We're in good hands with Vince. I can tell by the packaging that he's a meticulous guy.

What is left to sort out besides the DCCD Pro?

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks to everyone on here working towards getting this product made.
I'll be sure to keep you all updated with the progress and appreciate any input you guys have to give.

Spent a little quality time with the dremel cutting things out and it is getting close and will indeed work. I also ordered the DCCD controller from DCCD pro. It is set up to work with this switch setup out of the box.
Would it kill you to clean out your cupholders?
J/k Brendan. Great progress!

Dude, where can I send $20 to do my part in reimbursing you?
Same here.
-
So did Fredrik. Much less complicated than our cars due to the engine mounting situation.
Oh wow I didn't realize he took his WRX that far? Did trans issues prompt that or just a bad case of the mod bug?
-
Touge Tuning recently swapped an STI 6 speed in a 2015 WRX.

Brendan is the man!

The stars all aligned for this one. We happen to have a spare trans case and a member willing to ship it. I was searching the NASIOC classifieds for Moore blast plates b/c they are currently out of stock. I messaged a guy who had a set listed and he no longer had them but gave me his friend's number who had a few sets for sale.
-
I just spoke with Joe about this. My transmission case is already stripped down to nothing. I would be more than happy to get the transmission to the guy, but I need to see what the cost would be. Its not super heavy, but is rather large. Any ideas on the best way to ship it?
I don't mind pitching in to help with shipping costs. Let me know and we'll get it going.
He says having the case will definitely expedite the process. He can use the equipment at work for measurements, etc. Thanks for offering it up BBPeik.
-
He's down to do it for us.
-
Trans issues are few and far between. Acumenhokie killed a gear or two. I think he later admitted to not using the clutch on a hard 1-2 shift but he'd have to chime in to clarify that. BBPeik is doing an STI 6 speed swap. I think his car was still stock turbo, probably stage 2.
-
A stumbled across a guy in Wisconsin who has designed transmission reinforcement plates for Subaru 5 speeds. Acumenhokie got Moore Performance blast plates to fit our 6 speed trans with longer bolts and maybe slight modification. These are essentially the same product but with thicker gussets and lower price tag. He is a mechanical engineer by trade and has an STI swapped Baja. Price is $300 shipped with wrinkle black powder coating. He just got a run of 11 back from powder coating yesterday. Contact him at vdahlae@gmail.com.

As far as the F/R power in "auto" mode, I believe it is 39/61.
The downside of the 2005 transmission is the shorter gearing.
I thought I had the table at work, but I don't, so no post showing the difference.
In a nutshell, I believe 4th gear runs out at ~95mph
Power split is 35/65 on 04-05. 06 changed to 41/59. I had an 06 prior to buying my 5th gen. I miss that trans and shifter. Drivetrain mods happened almost immediately on my 5th gen.
-
That is just the switch. I saw on DCCD Pro's website that they sell GD and GR STI switches so you'd think a VA switch would be possible too. I happen to like the looks of the VA switch better.
-
What about this piece from the 2015+ STI? If the electrical could be sorted out I like the looks of it for our 5th gens better than the GD STI controls. Possibly cut out just the DCCD portion and fit in similar location on 5th gen console, no need for a dummy SI-Drive knob.

Nice work OP, you are a pioneer!

Unforunatelly for me its usally those "odd balls" in most cases that usually catch my eye as for something different from the rest of the crowd deal.
Yeah I can relate. I often ask myself why do I like the Subarus with no aftermarket interest. I have an EJ with a low mount turbo (5th gen LGT) and a damn Outback wagon with a tiny truck bed (Baja). Modding these cars leads to a custom self made FMIC. Still can't believe I took the time and effort to do that project.
From what I can tell I'm going to have some unexpected fun trying to mount the rear Brembos on this Baja.[emoji57]
-
Powder coat was $360. Seals were $15 each x 12. Dust boots were $9 each x 12. O-rings for rear calipers were $3 each x 4. General caliper rebuild labor was $300.
Replacing the seals and dust boots is an easy job. I've done that myself before. The main reason I sent these off was the bleeders were all stripped. It's not easy to find a good machinist who is willing to install Time Serts in the bleeders.

These should arrive tomorrow.
