Tuning complete!
It made more power than I expected. I dropped the car off with less than a half tank of 93oct and 15 gallons of flex fuel. I took a small sample of the flex and it was 73%. Not sure how much pump gas was left in the tank when they added the flex. I'll see what the AP reads for ethanol content when I pick it up in 2 days.

Very interested. I already have the trans and R180 from a 2016 STI when it's time.Just about to complete the installation of an STI 6 speed into my 2010 LGT mt. Had custom engine mounts created to handle the conversion to the STI 6 speed. No custom parts other than the mounts. The rest of the parts came from different yr and model Subaru's. Checking to see how much interest would be there if I offered these mounts for sale.Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

Pics of the hood vs stock for the sake of comparison.

Hood is done!
Now you can see how hammered the rest of the paint is haha. Maybe that will encourage me to give it a 2 step correction.

Progress on the hood. If it's done by tomorrow then it will be tuned in November. If not then tuning will happen in December. Travel and work schedule are tight over the next month.

Awesome! What shop is doing the work? And would they be willing to fab another set of mounts? An STI drivetrain will be put in place of the current setup. Trans, rear dif, drive shaft, dccd controller, new clutch will be main points. But it is going to HAPPEN!!This will be a huge leap forward to be able to drive a daily driven bulletproof monster!I have this sitting on stand by out of a 16 STI. Baja 5-speed will probably go before the 5th gen but only time will tell.

I'll be waiting on my oil filter relocation kit and a billet comp wheel to come in so this might not get any updates for a bit.
More info on the oil filter relocation kit?

moral hazard - I saw your post on NASIOC and that you intend on getting the Killer B flange adapter. Should they be interested in producing anything for our cars I am about 1.5 hour drive from them. I would be happy to offer up mine for test fitting or any product development.
My handle is the same on both forums so feel free to reach out.

Is anybody running BNR's HTA71? I have his 20G and I know of others who run his 18G but I don't think I've ever heard of any experiences with the HTA71.
Chime in HTA71 owners!

Well put together video. The Baja is definitely unique, quirky, whatever you want to call it.
I hope to have the body work on the hood done in the next month then it will be time to hit the dyno.

Driveability improved with the new NPS. Much smoother between all shifts where before RPMs would drop like a ton of bricks no matter how quickly I shifted. It still stalled a few times but not as often as before when coasting at low speeds. I was driving it in the same manner as before to intentionally get it to stall.
When I parked it yesterday evening I noticed the light on the cruise control button was blinking. Then it dawned on me that an ECU reset may get rid of this. The reset worked and everything seems to be 100% now.
Cruise control functions 100%. I remember reading somewhere that other Baja guys got cruise control to work with an ECU swap but the light on the dash wouldn't light up to show when it was set. Maybe this was with the FXT ECU b/c it lights up as normal for me.

New NPS is in. Only took almost an hour to disconnect the damn connector from the stock piece. The blast plates made for an awkward angle to access the clip.
ECU now correctly reads ON when in neutral and OFF in gear. Hoping this clears up the low speed driveability issues.
I also added some heat sleeves to the AOS hoses that pass over the turbo. Probably wouldn't have been an issue considering I have a turbo blanket but no harm in adding an additional layer.

There was a killer looking Baja at the shop I go to, and I was wonder where I could share it.
Here seems as good as any:
Nice, I like that. The only issue with lifting these is that you will go through axles at a quicker rate than I'd like. I'm not trying to spend money on it frequently. Having a large sidewall tire on it doesn't really make sense at the power level that I expect to be once tuned. Currently it has 225/60/17 and at speed this chassis is floaty enough as is.
I seem to remember BBPeik had to swap the wires of the NPS car side harness connector in his 5th Gen when he put the STi 6MT in. Either that or the reverse wires.I think I recall that as well. I knew that cruise would be lost but I wasn't expecting driveability issues. I hope to get the NPS swapped over in the next few days so let's hope it takes care of it.

The axle seal was the culprit; trans leak is fixed. The car, excuse me TRUCK, stalls about half the time at low speed when shifting in neutral. It may be due to the 04 STI ECU swap. The neutral position switch changed on 2005 MY. Currently the ECU thinks it is in gear when in neutral and vice versa. I verified this on the Cobb AP.
I knew the different NPS would cause cruise control to not work with the 04 STI ECU. It's easily fixed by swapping an older style NPS. I intended to do this later on since loss of cruise isn't a big concern right now. I was not aware of other consequences related to the neutral position switch. Let's hope this is another quick fix and the NPS smooths things out. The guys at IAG also think this is the solution.
If anybody is wondering, Subaru part #32008AA074 is the older style NPS.

Baja 2 piece belt cover was broken so I replaced it with a Grimmspeed. With minor modification it fits well enough.
Oil was changed at 50 miles moving to Motul break-in. Some sparkle in the conventional oil as expected but nothing to cause concern. Upcoming intervals with break-in are 500 and 1,500. At 3,000 I can use Motul 8100 X-cess 5w-40.
Baja is going back to the shop today to fix a trans leak. Constant seepage from connection at left front axle. Axle was replaced during all the recent work. I'm guessing the seal appeared ok so it wasn't replaced but had failed. Or was damaged during removal/install. Either way let's hope for a quick fix.

The Baja is back to life! Getting some break-in miles on it now.

Motor is assembled. Should be running by the end of the week.Awesome. Can't wait to see some pics. I'm sure it will have been worth the wait.Brendan - on a side note I have a lead on an 18 STI trans and R180 with 23k miles. Damn good deal considering age and mileage. I reread through the details of your swap. The trans and diff could be dropped in either of my cars when the time comes. Each one has their own complexities but it will certainly be easier in the Baja. I even have a set of 07-09 spec B Legacy rear axles that should bolt right up to the Baja.

Also, what else can be easily done with traansmission dropped. I already plan on:
1) Soutbend Stage 3 clutch
2) stock flywheel
3) TSK3 kit
4) Transmission brace kit that someone fabricated for us special
All of those items were added to my car back in January. The South Bend stage 3 daily is very smooth. Easier engagement than the previous Clutch Masters FX300.

Heads are done and should ship out today!
