Cobb is very good all around but not perfect. Have had many Cobb parts on my WRX and some on my Leggy. For the cost there are equal or better options. For example. Cobb sway bars for my WRX came with crooked bushings. Cobb intake fell apart (Separated at the maf hookup). Other annoying issues with them. Not much can go wrong with springs if properly designed.
Your ride will bounce like a lowrider and when you hit bumps at speed you will hit the bumpstops with a crash. Happened to me on swifts and stock struts
Yea, forget cushy ride it aints gonna happen. With upgraded dampers and matched springs it won't be softer but the suspension will react faster to bumps. I actually find my upgraded suspension quite comfortable .
Never had any rubbing issues in the rear. Just make sure you upgrade the dampers on swifts or you may hit the bump stops often after the stockers wear out (usually less than a year on swifts)
Oops - yes I have IONS now . I can now stick a finger between the wheelwell and the tire in the rear as before (with the swifts) the tire was tucked under the fender. I do have somewhat oversized tires.
I had swifts on my wagon and carried heavy loads once in a while (heavy music equipment) they made my wagon look like a slammed lowrider. Much better now that I have swifts but still a tad low. They make spacers for the rears and I will probably go the route.
Just wait, they will settle. I've been through three spring changes in the last two years (1 on my WRX and 2 on my LGT). Every time its WTF why has it not lowered that much? Within a few weeks they will settle and drop anouther 1/2 in or possibly more.
More than one person here found the swifts a little to low or stiff for their liking . Underdog mated them with Koni's and found the ride too harsh. My main issue was lack of suspension travel and constantly hitting parking barriors with my ravspec lip. They are good springs just a bit too low to be practical. I loved the look
Noswad, very nice job and write up. Your ride is essentially my twin. I did the same in taking out my slammed swifts and going up a bit (IONS) in my case. Question, did you black out the rear tails ? at least the orange part.
I was under the impression that the bump stop mod was for BIlstein /inverted type struts only. I didn't do it for that reason but have had no issues with IONS and the Koni's. Previously with the stock struts and Swifts it was Boom, boom pow over any bump bigger than a 1/2 inch.
Some have not liked the AVO's due in decrease in ride quality but many of us are pretty happy with them. The trade off has been well worth it. They also have appeared to become more compliant with time ( or maybe I just got used a bit stiffer ride)
