  1. Just wrapping up my stage 3.5, 91 octane tune with Dave. Level of service far exceeded my expectations. I searched for quite a while for an e-tuner and am thrilled I found Cryotune. Rev updates came freaky fast and all my questions were answered promptly and professionally. I could not be more satisfied! If you have any hesitations, put them aside and go with Dave. You will not be disappointed!

Next up - building a corn burning tune to let this HTA68 stretch its legs...:D

  2. Not Friday, but I wish it were...

Two little old ladies were outside their nursing home having a smoke. That's the only place they were allowed to smoke, but then it started to rain. One of the old ladies pulled out a condom, cut off the end, put it over her cigarette and continued smoking.

The second lady asked "What is that?"

The first old lady replied, "A condom. It keeps'em dry."

The second old lady then asks, "Where'd you get it?"

The first old lady replied, "You can get them at any drugstore."

The next day the second old lady hobbles into the local drugstore and announces to the pharmacist that she wants a package of condoms. The guy looks at her kind of strangely. She is, after all, in her 80's.

He then politely asks what brand she prefers.

"Doesn't matter," she replies "as long as it fits a Camel."

  3. On January 9th, a group of Pekin Illinois bikers were riding west on I-74 when they saw a girl about to jump off the Murray Baker Bridge. So they stopped.

George, their leader, a big burly man of 53, gets off his Harley, walks through a group of gawkers, past the State Trooper, and says, "What are you doing?"

She says, "I'm going to commit suicide."

While he didn't want to appear "sensitive," he didn't want to miss a be-a-legend opportunity either so he asked ... "Well, before you jump, why don't you give me a kiss?"

So, with no hesitation at all, she leaned back over the railing and did just that ... and it was a long, deep, lingering kiss followed immediately by another one.

After they finished, George gets approval from his biker-buddies, the onlookers, and even the State Trooper, and says, "Wow! That was the best kiss I have ever had Honey! That's a real talent you're wasting Sugar Shorts. You could be famous if you rode with me. Why are you committing suicide?"

"My parents don't like me dressing up like a girl."

It's still unclear whether she jumped or was pushed.

  4. Whoa where'd all the Waukesha/Brookfield/Stallis folks suddenly appear from? We should have a meet in Brookfield. I drive the loud red GT

No kidding! I see a lot of action for the Impreza kids, but not much from the LGT guys. I'm also usually rolling around that area 2-3 times a month in either a black LGT or a black 3.0R.

  5. I'm getting ready to be a homeowner in the next few years and seeing the rescue you did to the house gets me excited for a transformation project of my own

It's a great feeling of accomplishment when its done. When you get there if you are still in the area, let me know if I can help. I've come to own lots of tools in the process!

this could of been a great place for a stripper pole

Still can be! The pole is still there and the new cover can be removed easily. :spin:

From a designer by trade what you did is such a titanic breath of fresh air. I scream on the inside when I look at that place BEFORE. I applaud your restraint and very safe/sane use of colors.

I find, from fixing other peoples mistakes that either its

    1. incredibly tacky

    2. done poorly

    3. way over the top

It appears you have avoided all these things and increased the value of your home in the process much more than the material cost. WELL DONE!!! WELL DONE!!!

EDIT: I particularly like the tree delete (its the little things)

WOW! Thanks! Its interesting you see the little things, like the tree. Many don't notice that!

Looks fantastic Capn - nice work. My wife and I also spent vacations, weekends, every spare dollar and many we didn't have to fix up our last house. Built in 1909 - it had some beautiful hardwood floors buried under a **glued** carpet pad & two layers of carpet (god people are lazy!). We stripped all the floors, put in tile, etc. We never did finish ripping out the fake bricks in the living room. Biggest job though was ripping the kitchen down to the studs and starting over w/new window, recessed lighting (they had a drop ceiling before w/fluorescents - ick) - and my personal favorite touch - hand made wood cabinets (I built them myself - not bad for my first try I think).

That kitchen turned out great! The cabinets look awesome! I love the color of them.

I have to ask... Why do people glue carpet down to hardwood. Who in their right mind does that? The previous owners of my house did something similar. They tore down the wall paper, then painted over top of the old glue. Really? Why not do it right? Good thing is I learned how to skimcoat like a mo-fo.

Nice to see some others in the same boat. Here is a link to my fb page with a lot of preconstruction stuff-http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1116435118549.17162.1457100669&type=3

    And finished-

    http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo5/grantshow/46e4e4bd.jpg

 That was a hell of a project! I'd love to see some more of the finished photos.

  6. Yes indeed, looking damn good for a DIYer. The living room came out great, and I would have used a light sand color on the walls to blend better with the wood flooring, but that's just my taste.

    Any mods to the outside?

Thanks! I had always thought about a different color a little closer to the floor too. The green tends to make the trim really pop, but not the floor.

No big mods to the outside. Just some general cleanup and landscaping. Here's a before and current.

  7. I've slowly been rescuing my house from the 70s. The previous owners made NO updates throughout the years. When my ex and I bought the house, it was our intent to flip it in 7 years and profit to buy some acreage. She lost interest (in me and the house) so I'm on a solo cruise with some limited help from family and friends. I took two weeks off of work (this week and last week) to work on another project, the basement bathroom. Here's some photos of before and after on some of the projects I've worked on. I would enjoy comments on colors as I'm not an expert on color combinations and would like some input. Anyway, besides the car, this is my second hobby. Keeps my mind active and out of trouble. Enjoy and post some pics of your projects too!

  8. UPDATE -

Dealer ordered me new snow tires and a new rim. I had them installed tonight and found out the two TPMS modules are NOT compatible between an 08 and an 07. I walked though it with the Subaru Tech and the 07 module will accept the sensor numbers, but will NOT read tire pressure while installed in an 08 model. The 08 module WILL read and accept the sensors from the 07 though!

So I'm now running 07 wheels, with 07 sensors, on an 08 Legacy 3.0R with the 08 TPMS module. Looks like I'll have to buy another module.

  9. I drove it close to 75 miles and light is still on. I just looked at both the modules. I believe you are correct on the part number. The one on the 07 is a 28201AG02A and the one on the 08 is a 28201AG06A. I can't believe they are that different... I guess I will find out. I have an appointment at the dealership to see if they can re-program it.
  10. For all the 3.0 guys out there, here's a list of all the part numbers for a 3.0R sedan factory exhaust from the intermediate pipe back. Since there is not a lot available for aftermarket exhaust for the 3.0, the factory system is one of few ways to go.

  12. This may be a dumb question, but I ran an ACT "street" clutch in my Integra GSR and I hated it because it would chatter when engaging at low RPMs. I would have to rev the car higher than normal(with a stock clutch) while engaging the clutch to get above the chatter range. I was told by several and even saw on ACT's website that this was normal and dealt with it.

Do any of these clutches hold stage two numbers without the chatter or is this typical and must be dealt with when modding our cars?

  13. So all you are doing is you are replacing the needle bearings with a wrist pin style? What material are you making it out of? Are you heat treating them?

Doh!! Just re-read it and see you are using bronze and alum. You could also try a D2 tool steel in its raw state (no heat treat) That would give you superior wear resistance and the chrome would add massive amounts strength. I believe it would still be softer than the mating components as well.

    Other good materials:

    4140

    4150 (a bit stronger than 4140)

Both of the above come in a pre-hard form and could be precision ground to your specific tolerance.

Otherwise S7 tool steel would work good too. It's a shock resistant tool steel.

Most of the above materials come in Rockwell C rating in the upper 20s to low 30s in the raw form for the tool steels and the same for the 4140/4150 in the prehard form.
