  1. I had same thought. May be regular applications of SeaFoam via vacuum hose for brake MC will help. Otherwise I would assume shell blasting is a much better solution. Intake has to come off anyway in either case. I really hope Subaru will correct this and introduce Toyota-like system with dual DI and port injection. Another unknown with this engine is how headgaskets will hold. At this point I have that done on all Subarus we have, including Tribeca's H6 @150K miles.
  2. "When in doubt, gas it out" My LGT always drives better after a good day at Auto-X in Devens.
  3. I'll ask my older son, me thinks he shot a lot of interior pics.
  4. Agreed. I can't wait for someone here to actually get one and have real feedback on daily life with Ascent.
  5. Yes, the module connector is somewhere close to driver's seat. I do believe its in vacation pics.
  6. SBT, in 2005 BL/BP wasn't really a whole new vehicle. It was manufactured in Japan since 2004. 2005 USDM BL/BPs were great because some of JDM stuff was thrown at them - STI shortblocks, TPMS wiring, PS fluid cooler , configuration options etc. Much of that was taken away in the following years thus making 2005 best (imo) out of USDM BL/BP family. On the other hand, Subaru started manufacturing Tribeca in 2006. For 2007 they added revised spring rates, AUX input for audio headunit, SAT option for the same, and rollover sensor for airbag deployment. Not a small change. I am not saying don't get Ascent in the first year. Your thinking may be whole and Subaru may decide to soften the offering if the take rate is good. They are in business of making money through sale of cars they manufacture, after all. For me personally this year simply does not work for number of reasons that have nothing to do with what Ascent is or isn't. I have two boys in college atm, some upcoming serious medical expense that needs to be provided for, and potential real estate expense. I can't have a mandatory $700-$800 monthly payment right now. Plus, I have perfectly running Tribeca I will sure to follow anyone who pulls the trigger though!
  7. Looks like they are really trying to make Ascent an irresistable deal. Wonder what that will do to other models in their lineup. Ummm, I can already imagine all the threads about dropping 2.4DI Twinscroll Turbos in BL/BP. I hope they don't tie it too hard to EyeSight.
  8. Twinscroll! Yeah 44K sounds like a lot but you also get a lot. Torn between Limited and Premium. Not getting it in first year anyway, will be interested to see how it develops.
  9. I do believe they were touting the EyeSight is available on ALL trims for Ascent... I will wait until the dust is settled on trims and options. Looks like SOA is rushing to put the word out and not everything is sorted completely yet.
  10. All this math flies out of the window (or rather tail pipe) the moment you step on gas. All I learned with Subarus is that when you go over 75mph fuel economy does not exist.
  11. Around lunch time, stopped by a red LGT sedan (06?) with stick that was sitting on the side of Rt 1 North in N. Kingstown, right after merge from Newport/Jamestown. Broken car? Hope nothing serious. Put a note with legacygt.com under driver's wiper.
  12. Bavarian Auto used to offer a DIY walnut shell blasting equipment set. Not sure if it was specific to Bimmers.
  13. Yes that's interesting. Looking at the rear gate pictures again I can't help but notice that center section in rear bumper - it almost looks like a cover for hitch. Too bad I didn't take a pic from the inside of the bumper - laying on the floor was strange enough with all people walking around: http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261811&stc=1&d=1518371882 May be whoever goes to see it at next show can check what's the deal with that rear bumper design, and update us.
  14. I installed optional tranny cooler on our Tribeca within week of purchase. Toyota used to put tranny coolers on their cars at factory.
  15. I believe so too. By 2020 all the competition for STI will move up as well and Subaru will have to knock them out, not just playalong with STI competitors. That said however remember this was said unofficially so who knows. I was equally excited to hear about hatch coming back in 2020, but again, anything goes on rumors mill.
  16. True. At the same time, haven't had to pull ours out even once over 10 years of ownership (knocking on wood).
  17. One more picture of rear gate: http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261811&stc=1&d=1518371882
  18. Here is a link to a shared album with my photos from the show. I will also put some of them here. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ux-ObLIeuEv1Q83Ry4nHb4dBstLQoLEW I took pics under the hood. Appears to be a front mounted turbo, TMIC (giant). Oil filter is on top which is good. One interesting change is that electronics are moved to engine bay - ECU and couple of other modules are under the hood now. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261801&stc=1&d=1518370798 ---- http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261802&stc=1&d=1518370798 --- http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261803&stc=1&d=1518370798 --- http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261804&stc=1&d=1518370798 --- http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261805&stc=1&d=1518370798 --- http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261806&stc=1&d=1518370798 --- Car looks good both in and out. Interior looks way better than all of competition we looked at - VW Atlas, CX-9, Volvo XC-90. Atlas was especially disappointing after Ascent. CX-9 and XC-90 come close but CX-9 felt few years behind in design, and XC-90 was a little bit busy. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261807&stc=1&d=1518370798 ---- http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261808&stc=1&d=1518370798 --- http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261810&stc=1&d=1518370798 --- http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=261809&stc=1&d=1518370798 Ascent that was at the show was Limited trim. 3rd row is more comfortable and easier to get to than Tribeca B-9 we drove to the show. There is also plenty of room at 2nd row, 2nd row moves similar to how it does on Tribeca. Front seats can move back so far I wasn't able to reach the pedals even with tips of my boots. I am 5'6. There was a real tall guy who sat in driver's seat after me, he was approx 6'3 and he looked real happy. Plenty of leg room. Same or larger amount of storage behind 3rd row compared to Tribeca. 3rd row has dedicated small speakers. 2nd row has its own climate controls. Vents for 2nd row moved to the sides roof. Interior panels and dash are all soft touch and look good visually, and are pleasant to touch. I did like the interior a lot. Felt comfortable. Leatherate on seats felt good, you won't mistake it for leather but at the same time it didn't feel like cheap one in Atlas. Rear doors got sunshades. That was really nice. As for 19 cup holders, I think it comes from you count them - rear doors have storage pockets that are divided in 3 - so 19 may be just the magic of numbers. Power rear gate - shocks are the motors and it looks like the mechanism can be retro-fitted into older designs like Tribeca or BP body. Will be interesting to measure and see if it works. I did take a pic from underneath. FLegacy was right about the front - nothing but the undertray. Rear was interesting - rear diff has cooling ribs so may be heat management is something Subaru had to take care of with Ascent. Gas tank cover now opens like it used to about 15 years back - press on it to open. Do not search for handle in the cabin We did like Ascent a lot. It had a lot of people and was definetily attracting interest. We'll wait a year to let them sort little things out and will be looking to get one in 2020 MY or so. Really want to see what captain's seat looks like. Probably the only thing I didn't like were the small rubber plugs for AUX-IN and USB ports on front audio. They felt out of place, didn't look good and are likely to be ripped off quickly. Surprised Subaru decided to that while providing really easy spring-loaded cover for 2-nd row USB ports. I think SOA will sell them as fast as they will be able to build them. For the price they are asking Ascent beats any competition easily. Kudos to Subaru for this one. Well done. Couple or things sales guy said: 2.4 DIT is the only engine option for Ascent. No bigger engine is in the works. 2.4DIT is capable of hitting 400hp "easily". All power numbers for Ascent are rated at regular 87 octane. Pricing should be announced this Thursday. Non-Ascent related things: Nothing on 2019 Legacy. Outback in Touring trim is great. Hatch should be back for WRX/STI in 2020.
  19. May be, I am willing to try. I want to check if the exhaust is similar to BP/BL GT. Our 2010 came with no undercover so who knows, these are show cars. I am not confident they will allow anyone to open the hood, but I will try.
  20. As long as green service connectors are on the passenger side still.. Why not?
  21. I'll try; Interested myself. If security approaches I may try "I am with Tony" thing. I will try to look underneath to at least see the turbo plumbing etc.
  22. Sure why not Should I troll them a little with questions about Legacy GT Wagon with 6 speed?
  23. Going to Providence Auto Show tomorrow. Saturday so it may be packed.
  24. Thing is, Subaru could bring Legacy Wagon back to market in no time should they decide to do so, the have the body with Outback and they have suspension from Legacy sedan. But that will not happen.
