  1. heh, I would SO pimp ClimberD if he comes through on the 08. Seriously, my car is fast in gear, but the gearchanges....whimper....
  2. on my 08, in 2nd, I can shift to third at high RPM (maybe 6ish) and it'll take long enough that I'll bounce off the rev limiter.... doccrowley's endorsement makes this mod look like the ultimate transmission mod.
  3. Hey ClimberD, how's the analysis of the 2008+ VB? We know real life keeps things busy, but just curious if you had any thoughts on it. Thanks!!
  4. Yeah, I own a house in Framingham. Sadly with no garage....
  5. Yep, 2 LGT's in my family. The wagon has 225/50-17's on it, yes, so if you see a LGT wagon with slightly too big tires, that's her. (Tires were free) She rarely drives outside of Framingham during the week, so I doubt the ABP wagon is her.
  6. Saw a dark blue LGT, clearly modded, on Hamilton ST in Framingham MA around 9:20 AM
  7. In my 2008, I can get lock up in 2nd gear. If I put it into manual mode, rev up to 4-5k, it will stay there off throttle, not like in 1st gear where the revs will fall off throttle no matter what. TCU mods would kick ass, especially for the newer cars.
  8. Just a thought, but wouldn't a whole transmission make it easier to figure out how the VB works? Pardon my ignorance on transmissions if that isn't the case.
  9. That is likely correct. If we had access to the TCU, we could probably fix the 08-09 in software. Sadly no one has figured that out.
  10. I'm VERY interested in this if you're able to do so. Rumor is that they only added a resistor on the 2008. I would be very interested to see how accurate that is.
  11. We have suspicions, but I do not know of anyone who's taken an 08 IPT VB and checked it for mods. We know they do a resistor, but we do not know if they do a mechanical mod. As the only mechanical mod to the 05-07 was one spring, there is an assumption being made, but that's simply an assumption. It's frankly too bad that there is so much secrecy here, as if IPT shared what they knew, we may be able to create a real mod, but I doubt the open-source software model could really be applied to IPT's business.
  12. Just saw an abp wagon with some nice wheels going north on 24
  13. These reports are promising, and excellent. I hope the newer VB's respond similarly!
  14. If I wasn't 2000 miles away, I'd be driving in a heartbeat. As long as I don't walk away with a busted VB or Trans, I'm good.
  15. Great work in that 05 5eat..... *crosses fingers that ClimberD has some success with the 08-09*
  16. Mine isn't going anywhere. VB from 08-09 is too different from 05-07 to be "drop in". ClimberD will hopefully figure it out!
  17. Just saw a dark blue 05 on Elm ST turning onto RT 20 in Sudbury MA (around 8:07ish)
  18. Having swapped a Spec B suspension, albeit a JDM one into my car.....(along with STI pinks, sway bars) Spec B handing is superb.
  19. I believe you're right. Looking forward to your data when you pull one apart.
  20. Thing is, it isn't all bad. If we had source code or other documentation of the TCU logic, we could just modify a few bits, and the shifting would tighten up. The 08-09 is able to do much faster shifts, it's just programmed not to.
  21. Got a wave from an dark blue 05ish Wagon on Old Conn. Path in Framingham
