  1. I was listening to a Canadian talk show on Sirius the other day. The discussion focused on how Canada's recalls (or lack thereof) works. In the US the government demands recalls and we will get the first allocation of replacement parts. Don't hold your breath expecting this will happen in Canada anytime soon.
  2. Aren't the lifters hydraulic? Is there an initial adjustment required?
  3. Good luck and thank you. I hope the weather holds out for a comfortable job.
  4. Good point. My wires are still good after 10 years, but I don't lift the tailgate all that much. If you replace the harness, would you consider doing a walkthrough so the rest of us can benefit from your experience? $80 isn't too bad. Can you also get us the part number?
  5. How long is the harness? Could you make your own using better wire?
  6. Wait...now that I've put on my tin foil hat this makes sense.
  7. If the lines are not OEM and were retrofitted I would guess Subaru wants no part of this. If you're not the original owner you could always bring it in and play dumb about the replacement lines. Just see what they have to say. I went in last week and the dealer gave my car a 20 minute inspection and sprayed some anti-rust material on the brake lines (again).
  8. Damn right. Lesson One in New York traffic is being aware of the unpredictability and wacky things the Chinese drivres do.
  9. Well, if you keep going east you'll eventually get to China. I still insist there are some things where the Chinese will never beat us.
  10. Another excuse to visit Total Wine in Cherry Hill....just down the street from the dealer.
  11. Some news with potential: the current Walmart ad features op bikini separates for under $5 each. While that could be good news for some, the potential is to unleash beachwear on a scale previously unknown with consequences unforseen.
  12. Imagine what that poor child has to look forward to!
  13. Techron is a great product. Chevron adds it to their gas at the pump, but there's no Chevron where I live.
  14. No fluid is "lifetime", unless you are looking for a short life.
  15. Little Suzie comes home from school and Mom asks what happened today. Suzie said Jimmy showed her his penis on the way home. Before Mom could say anything Suzie remarked "It reminded me of a peanut". Mom said "You mean it was small?" Suzie answers "No...salty".
  16. Tough generalization. There are times when I feel comfortable at 80, and other times when 50 is too much, and I can't wait to get off and take the local roads. Mostly it's a function of who's on the road with me, how much they are liquored up, or how pissed off they are at the outcome of a sporting event.
  17. I bought a replacement plug at Fred Beans, and the damn thing cost something like $14....and the rubber washer isn't included! Dealership is probably your best bet...special order.
  18. At 78,000 miles I replaced the struts with Konis, replaced the stock LCA bushings with a Whiteline kit that retained stock caster, and the links wich secure the roll bar were bad and replaced as well. The car now rides beautifully and the clunking noise from the links is gone. Expensive, but that's what Subiebucks are for.
  19. That's good to know. Where can I find that in writing? I doubt the dealer would know or try to know.
  20. The first thing I'd look at is the wiper arm and make sure it's tightened down on the shaft. That would be the most fortunate problem.
  21. I lost the radio/climate control twice. Both times were at the start of a 4 hour drive when I wanted the radio and needed the a/c. Following initial rage and anger, I shut the car down, restarted, and the radio and a/c were restored. Probably the car is screwing with me.
  22. That's what Subibucks are for. I do a lot of maintenance, but plugs and the timing belt are going to the dealer.
  23. Well done. If people remember nothing else, it's don't put race-application pads on a street car. They do not respond well unless warmed up to toast level.
  24. My dealer doesn't stock ECUs, too expensive to keep in inventory. The recall letter says the ECU "may" not be in stock, and a replacement would be ordered for overnight delivery. Check with the Parts shop. They should know if they have one in stock.
