  1. Yes if water gets into the exhaust, it will drown your car, kinda like soap in the tmic......All kidding aside, hogmeat (if he already hasn't already done so somewhere in the 159 pages of this thread) can/will probably answer this......Peace

  3. Resistance is futile, we are the HOGZAUST......You will comply......Live long and prosper even if you don't......
  4. Friend at work who drives a Scion liked it. He had paid 135$ on ebay for an exhaust, I told him that was 133$ too much......This is the young man who blew by me on the way to work one morning when I was at 30mph on cruise control. I told him I redid the exhaust so I can do the same to him...... WRX owner friend also liked it, he has a 3 inch exhaust which, of course, sounds way better but he did like our little tricked out hogzawst...... NA Impreza owner also liked it......I told him he can not apply this system to his car as, if I remember right, those cars don't have the muffler flange(s) like the leggys...... 06 LGT owner colleague at work liked it as well but said he would not do it to his car......I told him I was just showing it to him, that I didn't expect him to do it...... Wifey hates it, ours sons like it. I like it because I can more clearly hear the auto tranny shift......I noticed and was surprised when the car downshifted whilst going over a bridge on cruise control set at ~40-50 mph......I hadn't really noticed that before because the car was quieter......
  5. Got bored several weeks ago and, as title states, jacked up out leggy and applied washers again. Real easy to remove the nuts after spraying with a bit of lubricant. Gaskets were in good shape, tossed them in the glove box. Used 3 washers this time, 1 zinc between 2 galvanized. I applied some all purpose grease to the bolts and nuts this time. Have showed it to 4 people, asking them to check out my Stromung aftermarket exhaust system......Our boys and I like it, wifey hates it......See my next post for reactions, comments......
  6. After a long wait in the marsh the duck hunter finally gets a chance and shoots several flying by. "Go fetch" he commands his retriever. He patiently waits 5-10-15-30 minutes and his dog finally returns, all bloody, dirty, muddy, but no duck. "What the heck fella, what about the birds?" the hunter asks. His dog replies "Well, when I found them, they were all dead, so I gave a proper burial for each one."

  11. OEM trip computer is at 26.7 with odometer just past 35k miles No long road trips yet and tolling 350-390 miles per fill up 05 NA 2.5i auto with most of milage accrued between home and work which is just under 20 miles 1 way, posted 55 mph speed limit I'm no engineer but still wondering with literally billions of $$$ revenue and millions for r&d why Subaru and other manufacturers won't engineer and sell vehicles which I'm certain can be a lot more efficient with the fuels used......
  12. Greetings to all. I've read a lot of this thread with interest. I have an automatic na 05 legacy and today I tried the "hogzaust" method successfully. I used both 14mm + 9/16 sockets to remove the bolts, 1 of which I took to walmart with me to make sure that I would get the washers with the correct diameters. I paid 83 cents + tax for 15 zinc plated flat washers size 9.5mm (3/8"). I also bought a bottle of 3-in-1 oil which I applied to the bolt before remounting. I say bolt because I somehow managed to misplace/lose the 2nd bolt for now. I applied 2 washers on the driver side and I've taken several test drives to check it out. I even wrapped it out with the sport shifter several times 1st and 2nd gear. Of course (with due respects to those who have them) this is not a modestly priced or high dollar exhaust modification/upgrade used by tuners but, since my car is stock anyway, it will do for me. I'm familiar with the what I call "quiet rumble" of the various wrx sedan + wagon exhaust sounds and I've driven a Saabaru with a pretty loud but polite modified exhaust which I had throughly enjoyed. I intend to try with 3 and maybe 4 washers until I get/hear the sound I want for my car. I was at our local Subaru dealer early this morning, took a look at the 1st arrivals of the 08 legacys, and I took time to look under all the models on the lot. I note this method can be applied to any exhaust system that is not welded. I'm certain that many back yard mechanics/hot rod enthusiasts have been doing this for years. Nevertheless I thank hogmeat for his bringing this trick to our attention and I will certainly buy one of his decals once he starts selling them!! I have friend that when occasion permits talks smack about my subie. I think I pissed him off when I said his Corolla is not even in the same class for comparison with my car. I got his attention earlier tonight when I told I'm paying 830$ for an exhaust upgrade......OB-LC-TX
