  1. ^ As I suspected. Bushings. I suggested that it might be subframe bushings but it was certainly some type of bushings were being affected by cold temps and allowing the differential to twist. This is still relatively a new model but the rubber bits are now beginning to age.
  2. ^ Avons were on my short list but high mileage reviews on Tire Rack seemed to indicate that they got noisey over time which means to me that they get baked and hard. I find reading the long term reviews to be the most informative. When someone replaces their old tires, the new ones are always wonderful in comparison and, of course, they are. The haven't seen any heat cycles. The ContiExtremes didn't appear to get as many bad long term reviews. However, I am using them as my winter set up (very good in the snow I've seen) and they will come off come spring. Perhaps the Avons would have been just fine in that kind of service where they wouldn't see really warm temperatures that might bake the life out of them.
  3. Please read the initial post. The poll is an open one so you can click on the number tallies to see who is getting what mileage. By going to the profiles of the the participating members you can compare regions, mods, etc.
  4. ^ Spectacular pix. Thanks. (Finally figured out how to see them.)
  5. Looks as if the mileage numbers are slipping the longer the winter season progresses as members check in with their new data.
  6. Keeping aerodynamic forces to a minimum will net you good mpg. Fuel consumption is roughly proportional to the square of your car's speed.
  7. ^ Bumping for additional data.
  8. ^ I drove a similar distance and trip last year and also got 27.6 going between 70-80. Don't know what my actual was.
  9. The EPA is cutting gas milage estimates with new testing proceedures. Estimated mileage will fall by at least 10%. The story: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-fuel12dec12,0,1026595.story?coll=la-home-headlines
  10. ^ Again, thanks for the info. I believe the major problem with cavitation would be loss of circulation. The AF lowers surface tension of water which prevents bubbles forming. Bubbles also decrease the heat transference of coolant. The NICO site I used to frequent (and still visit) when I had my J was full of AF talk. The Q45 V8 could be prone to overheating. (As an aside, one interesting discussion was started by a guy who thought it stupid that Nissan engineers would have a belt driven fan instead of electric ones. Turns out that the heat generated by the 4.5 was such that the electricty needed to run an apropriate sized fan would require more energy to work than by powering it mechanically with a belt. There was also a weight and space penalty with electric.)
  11. There are at least a few hundred members frequently using this site. Bumping for more data.
  12. We're getting a decent bell shaped curve now. Need more poll participants. Hmmm...parhaps I should have put "God" in the thread title. Polls are tricky.
  13. ^ Very interesting. What is your typical driving enviroment? Does the 100% throttle on the non-stock map make a difference in engine feel?
  14. Bumping for the Sunday evening crowd. Those extremely low milages (14-16) are noteworthy. There's one even lower if anyone is interested.
  15. ^ or baking. Quaking too.
  16. Perhaps your mileage would increase if you used the recommended premium grade fuel. Would be interesting to see if it made a difference.
  17. The one number combines at least two things: vehicle efficiency and overall vehicle application. The poll is "open" so one can look to see what members are getting which mileage.
  18. Three modified LGTs getting 30+ mpg. Interesting. I had a chat with an experienced LGT head who was running an outsized turbo. He felt that because the larger turbo he had takes longer to spool (and look out when it does!) that he was able to cruise unboosted which decreased his highway gas speed gas consumption getting him into the very high 20s. His response to this poll's question was at odds with where I thought he might vote but that's maybe only because he doesn't "cruise" all that much.
  19. ^ There are a lot of variables to be sure but with enough responses we should get a nice curve. The poll does show clear milage cut off points for the majority of LGTs at >18 and <26 mpg. One of the cool things about the NAV/info system is that you can log up to 6 mileage periods.
  20. There are more than 107 registered users. Maybe some more members will stumble onto the "site polls" area and "new posts" link. -bump
  21. All true. Polls are very tricky to set up. This one is an open poll so one could check the types of vehicles and mods to extrapolate more trends.
  22. Interesting that we're not getting a bell shaped curve with 105 responses. Could it be that driving style is coming into play with the LGT. The car does go like hell and can be driven that way with no ill effects (excpet for fuel bills). It also can be relatively easy on gas if kept out of constant high boost.
