  1. I'm looking for a good aftermarket alternative to the stock oil return line as mine kinked and almost killed my car several times. If you look at the pictures the flange for where the return line connects is dented as well as was since replaced. Ignore all the RTV the previous owner loved the stuff I guess lol. Also if anyone is aware of any relatively inexpensive FMIC setups that can fit the fog lights that'd be great.
  2. Going to do the comp/leakdown test, and since that last post haven't driven it besides if it was necessary (like the trip I mentioned in the post, nobody else could get me there) and now I am actually able to do the work, and I did look closer at a lot of things, which is why I made a new post. I apologize, but I am ready to start taking a crack at diagnosing on my own, thanks for replying again
  3. hey guys I had this Legacy GT for 8 months, and around the end of July my oil burning issue got significantly worse after a ~2 hour road trip. It burns oil, a significant and noticeable amount out of the tailpipe, so much so people have stopped and asked me if I was aware. Its gotten worse over time. Here are some things I noticed after moving the car after it sat for about a month and some change: * There is oil on my blow off valve, and near it, and signs that the oil is leaking from there. * There WAS oil at one point in my intercooler pipe * Oil leaks from the bottom of my turbo * The oil return line from the turbo is kinked and not in place (but still connected) * NO knocking, or even any weird sound just sounds like any subaru * I have a CEL for MAF and Speed sensor * Power steering fluid likes to disappear I called TPG Tuning here in PA, told them it MIGHT be piston rings, got quoted ~8k for a new Type RA shortblock and to do the rings Unfortunately, I would just swap the motor and restart (which I'd prefer, no clue what the previous owner has done to the car) but EJ255 engines are quite expensive lately. Could go the 2 liter route, but unsure of how much that would cost. Overall, this thing is a pos, and has been lovingly coined by my friends, sh*tbox since I've had it. However, I had an absolute blast in this thing for a long time before the issues really showed themselves. Give me some guidance, whether or not I should part it out, I definitely do NOT have 8k to drop (I'm in highschool still lmao) Thanks.
  4. I do believe there is some blowby, probably too much than what I'm comfortable with because there was a silicone coupler that was cut in half that I had to replace that goes down from the turbo to the FMIC, and there was oil actually coming out of that cut. I'll try fixing that kink I mentioned today and see what happens.
  5. Hello, I own a 2005 5mt Subaru Legacy GT with a different motor swapped in (I believe its an EJ205?) w/around 180k miles on the odo. This is also my first car. I bought this car in January of 2023, and hasn't given me many issues besides power steering fluid disappearing and oil burning and leaking in some spots. Runs good, goes fast, DAM is steady at 1 always, no overheating problems, just burns oil like hell. I noticed the oil burning recently (about 2 months ago) and have been topping up my oil weekly with Royal Purple 5w30. I see temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s right now in PA. Now, the oil doesn't go by so fast that its always on empty when I check it, and there are no oil stains where I park that I've seen. When I start the car, and start actually driving it, its either no blue smoke or a fair amount of it comes out the other end along with the regular condensation and burning of carbon I'd see. I ONLY notice it when I build boost, but for some reason its very inconsistent. There will be a noticeable amount of blue smoke behind me where I'd do a pull, but sometimes it doesn't. When I'm at idle, and rev in neutral, blue smoke also comes out the exhaust but only when I go into boost. So I'm thinking it may be a turbo issue, but I'm not entirely sure. Something else that is concerning, is that under the turbo there is oil leaking from the bottom of it, and there's what I believe is a return line for oil or something that's kinked where its coming out of as well. I can upload pictures if need be, it's just a pain in the ass to get a good photo of it. After doing a pull and coming to a stop, a small bit of smoke will come out of the hood as well, not enough to be super noticeable but you can see it reflect in the sunlight. I've been using my accessport to log data for TPG Tuning, they said they'd be able to help me out, I just wanna get a few opinions from here first. Also I'm fairly certain it's not the stock turbo. I attached an image of the engine bay. I've literally just been dailying it to school and work and haven't had time to run through the car with a fine tooth comb. Any help would be appreciated. Also before someone asks me, "why did you buy the car without a build sheet" or alike, I needed a car and in my price range in pennsylvania this is as good as it was probably gonna get, car is completely rust free.
  6. I've looked into it and people say it could be a bad solder joint on the led controller board in the overhead console. Before I rip it out, is there anything else I should check? I also read sometimes the sensors under the seats can become dislodged but what indicates that? Seatbelt buzzer on driver side words as far as I'm aware and I'll check passenger today. Not a clock spring issue since my horn works thankfully. Just looking for some guidance, don't want to have to spend hundreds of $ if I don't have to. 05 LGT with ~177k mi
