yeah, but whats the price differance from 2nd to 1st place?

Probably close to 4 grand more for the Audi. But the comparo should figure that in. The Mazda would be way down in price compared to the field. The hidden factors for Euro cars are alway high option prices and reliability headaches. For me, Audi has such a poor reliability record, going back for so many years, that I wouldn't even consider one. If you keep it beyond the warranty it is a ticking cost and headache bomb.

...and to think road and track speed rated the mazdaspeed 6 over legacy spec b just a while back... makes you go hmm!

The Legacy also beat the audi 2.0T in that same comparison... craziness!!!

Imagine the results if "reliability" were factored in!! It looks like our secret is out -- we own awesome performance sedans. This could be bad news for getting screaming good deals on LGTs. Let's hope no one reads R&T.

Does this mean I'll start seeing LGT's on the road from once every two months to once a month? Does this mean people will stop taking second looks at our cars? Does this mean we will be on the road just like Civics?:icon_eek: Oh noooooooh, beam me up Scotty.

What's interesting is that R&T's 'Speed' Mag ranked a three car shootout this way:

3rd Audi A4 2.0T Quattro

2nd Subaru Legacy Spec B

1st MazdaSpeed 6

How the **** could they reverse the order in another shootout. Just goes to show you the rags don't know jack.

NVM it's already there. Look at the excuses fly!!!

"To mazda's credit though all cars used 91 octane (only gas available) so obviously they did not meet the requirements for max performance. Plus it was 85 degrees out in the scorchin hot cali sun."

93 octance wasn't available. Our Legacys don't need no stinkin' 93 octane

Since when is 85 degrees scorchin hot? LOL

My favorite line: "If you crave the ultimate in refinement...and are willing to be smoked in a straight line, the Audi is the best choice."

It sure would be nice, though, if the regular LGT had a "sport package" option that came with the Bilstein suspension and RE050's, so that Spec B handling could be had for an extra $2,500 or so, instead of bundling it with Nav, red leather, etc.

I read the article. I think it was generally well balanced, but I did get a little tired of their effusing over the Audi (although, if it had been the Subaru...!); it only won by less than 2 points (out of 400). From the article, you'd have thought it ran away from the competition. The more astonding was the difference between the Subaru and the BMW (although they were somewhat apologetic about having chosen the 325 rather than the 330...price constraints, you know). On the whole, I think this was a win for Subaru.

I hope that Subaru will capitalize on this.
