UPDATE: With the level of interest, we're doing an informal first-come, first-serve meet this Saturday (Aug, 3rd) @ 10:30/11AM.

Birdie is going to try and line us up with some BMW/Audi/VW guys for a Sunday later this year.

This way, collectively, we're over the 10 car minimum and can have a private event.

Expected turnout this Saturday (stop by!):

-Perscitus

-nstg8r

-ItalianLegacy

Although I'm not affiliated with Birdie's in any way, I've known Eric (the owner) for some time now and can vouch that his auto spa shop is second to none. Awesome exterior, interior, engine bay steam washes, detailing, etc. so with that said...

How about we do a Subaru Tri-State Gang meet in Rye on any given Sunday and get our cars steam cleaned in the process?

  • Available Sunday's 11AM - 4PM (Sunday, Aug-4th or Sunday Aug-11th)
  • 10 Car Minimum - 20 Car Maximum
  • Hot Dog Cart -Refreshments - Music Provided
  • Professional Photoshoot available

CASH ONLY

$60 in/out steam wash and hand wax OR wash and engine cleaning

$80 in/out steam wash, hand wax AND engine cleaning

Check out a similar meet another group did there some time ago:

What do you guys think? Who's in (reply and/or answer the poll)?

Cool. We can do August too or even September (although that kinda' defeats the purpose). I'm down almost any Sunday this month, through mid-August, then September.

I'm off all Sundays in August (for now).

Sounds good guys. How about we target Sunday, Aug-4th with a rain date set for Sunday, Aug-11th?

We need at least 5-10 cars. Ideally 10+.

This is a good meet spot and downtown Rye is beautiful (lots of places to eat, drink, etc.)

Pricing: Steam washes start @ $20 and go up to $80 with hand wax

and then head north to $250-300 for a full inside/outside detail. Anyone can pick their poison.

Another good service that Eric offers is the use of steam to sanitize sport equipment, strollers, child seats, etc. And steam washes motorcycles too.

Damn, I wish I saw this sooner! I just went there last night for the first time!

Check out my review here:

Hey guys, as you all know I’ve listed my Legacy Spec.B for sale. Yesterday I had someone ask to see the car with very short notice and I had to get it all cleaned and polished ASAP because I had dinner plans after work and didn’t have the time to wash, dry, polish, vacuum and clean windows. I did a quick search while at work for “White Plains hand car wash” and the first link was to a page on Yelp for local hand washes. There were some here and there with 4 or 5 decent reviews, others with not so good reviews and then there was one with 17 reviews and all were 4-5 stars. The place is called Birdie’s Auto Spa and it’s in Rye, NY. The reviews said to make an appointment so I called and spoke to the owner, who was very friendly, and made the appointment after work. I opted for the $35 steam hand wash and interior package.

It was super easy to get to from 287 and the place was easy to find since it has big green banners and signage out front. I noticed the main sign said that it’s the first eco-friendly steam hand wash in the tri-state area. So I pulled in and one of the employees directed me on where to park. I got out, left the car in their hands and went inside where the owner greeted me. They have a nice lounge area with TV’s, coffee and some chairs and a couch. There’s outdoor seating as well.

After a few minutes I went back outside to watch how they wash my car because I’ve never seen a steam hand wash before. They have a steam machine that, like you would with a regular water hose, they spray along each panel of your car. However, I noticed that there was no soap, no drip marks running down my car and no run off on the ground. They simply follow the steamer with a microfiber cloth and your car comes out looking awesome. Once the car is cleaned, they follow up with a quick detail spray. After that, they do the windows inside and out, vacuum the interior and wipe down the dash. It was all said and done and paid for in 30 minutes flat. I was impressed. The owner and I chatted for a couple of minutes and he told me that it’s a very eco-friendly method of washing your car as it only uses about ¾ gallon of water to wash a sedan and there’s no run off or solvents going into the ground. Very cool.

One thing I noticed with many car washes is that the majority of them have people washing your cars that know nothing about detailing or properly washing a car. I’ve watched guys with zip-up hoodies lean against cars as well as guys wearing rings and watches while wiping cars down. That makes me cringe. We’ve all seen the bins of dirty, wet rags that every car wash has where the employees simply pull one out and wipe your car down with regardless of how dirty the rag is. Birdie’s was not like any of the above. I saw no zippers, no watches or rings, no careless wiping with dirty rags… these guys aren’t just a get in, get out car wash with staff that knows nothing about cars or detailing them.

I write this review not because I know the owner or because I’ve been there 100 times. I’m writing because I find it hard to find a good quality, competent hand wash in the area. If I never did that Google search, who knows how long it would have been for me to find out about Birdie’s, but I’m glad I did. What made it even better than the quality and care they took with my car was that it’s environmentally friendly. I was in shock when I was told my car was done and I walked over to find my car glistening in the sun without any water on the ground or drip marks coming from my mirrors, door handles, bumpers, trunk, etc. as with normal washing. I will definitely be making this my go-to hand wash from now on. I suggest you guys check it out if you’re ever in need of a hand wash or detail.

I also found that the BMW guys on the forums have had meets there.

Couldn't have said it better. I'm in for the next meet @ Eric's.

Maybe a Saturday, November 2nd meet? I hope to have my car back by then, so we can have a welcome home party for her.

p.s. Just realized, this was my 1000th post

Thx for the update nstg8r. How's she looking?

Sure, let's shoot for the 9th. Who is in?

10th would be better for me if you can swing it. I'm moving into a new apartment and I have new furniture being delivered on the 9th.
