Going wingless

Recommended Posts

So I removed my wing and would like some opinions on my next step. I have 3 options I am considering to fill the holes.

1. The bondo route

2. Fiberglass

3. Tac welding the holes closed and hammering/sanding it smooth

All of thus prior to a repaint of the trunk, so what would y'all do?

I would say Hammerdown is right BUT....rather than fill them in right away, make sure that you actually like it better without the wing. Go to Lowe's and buy some carriage bolts and nuts that fit the holes. Lowe's also has small rubber washers (these are all available in their hardware section) and then put a bolt and rubber washer and a nut inside of the lid and snug up to seal it out. Touch up paint the heads of the bolts so they're the right color and drive it for a couple of weeks to make sure that you're happy with how it looks, THEN do #3 if you are, and if you aren't, put the wing back on and no harm done.

already did that JmP and I love the look, however, I am going to find someone who has a 2.5i or save up for a carbon fiber wingless trunk, the cf is only 100 bucks more brand new than a regular one.
