Corker999
My 99 SUS has had an intermittent starting issue for the last 18 months or so, sometimes when I turn the key to the crank position all I get is a click. So far I have replaced the starter and solenoid, these were new (not re-manufactured) parts, and the battery. Also, I can often get the car to start by either waiting an extended period of time (at least 30 mins) or sometimes by rapping my hand against the panel below the steering column right above the pedals. If anyone has any idea what I might need to do I would greatly appreciate the advice. The problem has been getting progressively worse and is beginning to wear thin on my nerves. Max Capacity
IMO you need to replace the key and ignition switch where the key goes in. Older Civic's had this problem too. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Corker999
Thanks. I've recently come to that conclusion too. I was just looking to see if anyone thought it might be something else a little bit cheaper. But I guess if I have to spend the money, I have to spend the money. Thanks for the help. AZP Installs
It could also be a loose connection in the ignition switch area as well. The only caveat is that you are getting a clicking, I'm assuming by the engine bay, when it won't start. This would indicate that the ignition switch is working. Have you replaced the ground and/or starter cables? -Mike Paisan AZP's First Private Track Event, June 19 at NJMP Thunderbolt $315 including Classroom and Mentor! http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
