New Tail Lights - back to stock look

The previous owner applied tint films to the tail lights that I was never terribly excited about - especially because after so many years they're hazy and make the car look dingy. On top of that the drivers around here suck and I'd rather have people be able to see my brake lights easily.

So I bought some new OEM tail lights from Subaru. Turns out they're very easy to change - 4 little nuts behind the carpet in the trunk and you're done. I like the change, but it's going to take a bit to get used to - looks like a different car!

Thanks guys - I'm still getting used to it myself, but I think it makes the car look a lot newer/nicer. The front end needs an equal refresher - the headlights are not so good and the diy grill from the last owner is also busted, but I'll have to save that for another day.

Did he spray on the tint film or was it a sticker film? You probably could've removed it off the old ones you had. The spray probably would've come off with a chemical and the sticker peeled. Look into it and you can make some money back! I like the tinted look in general but the ones you had were faded. I would buy new film and tint or maybe just slightly tint the white part, that's what I did on my OBP

It is a film. I did try to remove it briefly and it's so degraded that it fractured into pieces as I tried to peel it off. It also left quite a lot of glue behind. I'm sure I could remove it with enough work - I might still do that, but I might also just sell them for cheap to someone willing to put the work into refurbing them.

For me - being able to replace them in 5 minutes and having brand spanking new lights to keep me from getting hit by idiot Tucson drivers - it was worth the $250 for now.
