mike2006legacygt
All- when changing out the stock up pipe, do I have to put a resistor in line? If so, how do you do this. I'm going to go with a new grimmspeed up. What do I have to do with the egt and resistor? I don't understand what to do here, thanks. I will be running Cobb ap stage 2 with a downpipe. iNVAR
Stage 2 maps typically already disable the code, no resistor necessary. Cobb's map should definitely already disable it.
mustangendsley
I have the GS up pipe and took everything off of the stock one. mine did not come with a o2 sensor so i left it off. i took the 2.2 ohm risistor and put it into the right spot. there is a wright up on here to show you exactly how to do it. very easy. hybridandy
I put a resistor in mine when I put in a grimmspeed pipe. I bought a pack of 5 at radio shack for a dollar or two (I forget the resistance but you should be able to find it). Just bent it into a U and inserted it in the plug and ran a little electrical tape over it to seal it and keep it from falling out. Figured it would be better to keep it happy rather than just defeat the code.
.Catalyst.
It's a 2.2kOhm .5 watt resistor. My spec.B [#163] Project Thread with Pictures Get CryoTuned!
mike2006legacygt
Guys- Thanks for the info on the resistor. This sounds like it isn't required to do this if you have Cobb Ap. Perhaps it's needed with other engine management other than Cobb. Is this true?
.Catalyst.
No the CEL can be disabled via open source as well, but since just doing the UP doesn't require a tune, some people use the resistor fix. robitrice
make sure to wrap the connector in electrical tape or something else to ensure moisture stays out and the resistor stay connected. Zip tie the wiring off to side as well
