PINESMOKER
Quick question I'm looking to see how to adj. the idle. My car idles around 300 rpm you can't even tell it running half the time. I see the idle is suppose to be 700. Do I need to adjust it off the throttle cable? Thanks
Zues Marine
there is no idle adjustment, it is ECU controlled..if your engine is idle low... something is wrong with it. any other symptoms? checked for vacuum leaks, MAF, plugs.. check for codes? sometimes the CEL light burns out or is removed by a P/O..you never know
Hemingway
Great point ... half my indicator light bulbs were burned out. Replaced them all with new bulbs. I was amazed at how many had burned out over the years and never noticed.
snederhiser
Hello; The idle is controlled by the ECU. Do not adjust the throttlebody. The TPS, throttle position sensor has a set of contacts for the idle circuit. When your foot is off the gas pedal, the idles circuit is engaged. I would check the IAC valve, idle air control valve, to be sure this is not sticking. Steven.
PINESMOKER
I have no other symtoms other than a really low idle.
Zues Marine
checking and cleaning the grounding points in the engine bay is what i would do next. as is common with 15y.o. cars... if they're too corroded or dirty, the improper grounding it can cause all sorts of electrical problems
