Rear sway bar

First off, I'd like to say that I used the forum search before asking this question, but I couldn't find anything or may have missed it. I'm looking for an adjustable rear sway bar that would be safe to run in the winter time, I'm concerned about oversteer on ice/snow or is it just a bad ideal to have the stiffer bar on in the winter. It would be ideal to have an adjustable that I could adjust to stock setting and didn't have to remove every winter. I looked at Perrin's website which says from stock 17mm to Perrins 22mm (does this mean its adjustable starting at 17mm?), I know the JDM is 20mm. Is there anyone thats had oversteer problems with the stiffer bar on ice/snow is my real question? Right now the suspension is stock, but I'll be installing ION springs when I get them. As for tires I'll be running Blizzaks LMs, Nokians or Michelin X-ice, hopefully thats enough info to answer my question, its great to learn the do's and don'ts from others here, great forum!:) I plan on posting a review on winter driving with ION springs, winter tires, and maybe rear sway bar. Since it gets down to -50 it'll be interesting to see how the suspension handles that and the ice.

Have you driven the car in the snow yet?

With the stock setup (tires, etc), it already has oversteer in snow, I am guessing due to the LSD in the rear. Not bad, but noticeable, and fun once you get the hang of it.

I have just posted a review of my first track day at Putnam Park in IN over in the Motorsports topic. My feeling is that the car does not need more rear bar with basically stock tires. I do recommend bettter-than-stock tires for either summer or winter, as well as some wider rims.

I had a WRX sportwagon with a larger rear sway bar and it was great for sliding around corners in the winter when I did it intentionally, but sometimes when I took sharp curves on the highway it would make me nervous, felt like the back end was just waiting to whip around (never did), but its not a good feeling. I would really like to get a bar that I could run year round, I was just trying to avoid this with the GT since its heavier and not as tossable as a WRX.

Somewhere in the Forum is a comment by a former WRX owner who now has an LGT.

He has done either a track event or an auto-x (hey, I'm old.....memory gets bad!!), but his firm opinion is that the WRX has WAY more understeer than the LGT, which he feels is much more neutral.

My recent track experience has shown me that the stock LGT can be very neutral.....driven properly....and my tire wear showed it. Putnam Park had mostly right turns, and the left-side tires were surprising equal on corner wear.

No I haven't driven the GT in the winter yet, I'll have dedicated snow tires, I suppose I should wait to see how it handles. I'm just itching to mod the suspension a little bit, trying to keep it flexible between a winter and summer setup.

I greased them up liberally before the install and have had no squeeking at all. As long as they're lubed, there's no reason for them to. And once they're done properly, there's no reason for the lube to wear off.

So far, I've had good luck with 20 year old Bel Ray waterproof grease (it takes awhile for me to get through a tub). No sounds after 4K miles.

The stuff is also good for temporarily covering exposed sheetmetal to prevent rust. It stays and stays.

Well I think I've found what I was looking for, its looks like GP Moto will be offering a front/rear sway bar setup that has an adjustment for winter driving, I think I'll hold off for these. :)
