And apparently Black Bear Pass / Colorado has quite a reputation. ehsnils
The thing I worried most about was the risk of getting a puncture. Cars can actually cope with a lot more than you think, it's usually the driver that's the limit.

mbcracken
Hmm, maybe new fozzie in the future to get me to fav fishing holes. Nice having a small car that can easily turn around.
Muzzle o Bees
Black Bear is a VERY narrow road with some extremely tight switchbacks, but none of it is "extreme," really. With a bit of ground clearance, any stock 4WD or AWD vehicle would be able to make it with no trouble. As another member mentioned, tires would be a limitation if one is running passenger car tires. A good set of LT tires is all a person would need. Some BFG All Terrains would be perfect. Very cool to see someone using a Subaru off road, though.
