srgdrum
Hey everyone. Long time no speak. Now for the question. If during the timing belt swap if either side cam gears were not perfectly lined up (say one tooth off) that would be a very real and immediately noticeable problem correct? Car would throw Cel right or run like crap? I did the belt job spark plugs and water pump over the weekend and have put 90 miles on the car in about 8 starts. Seems to run like a champ. No cels, no noticeable issues other than it justs seems louder in the engine bay. Ticking and whirring. Perhaps I'm just paranoid as that was the biggest job I've ever tried to tackle. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Max Capacity
If you haven't had a CEL by now your ok. Did you rotate the engine by hand 3 times before you put the covers on ? The marks should line up every time when you do that. Not the belt marks all you worry about are the gear marks. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Max Capacity
No guides ? I wonder if the last person who replaced the belt, left them out. MAP
I remember reading somewhere that only the engines attached to manual transmissions had those guides. Cars with the 5EAT didnt.
