Most comfortable spring/strut combo

Do you need spacer with Koni/epic or Koni/H-Tein to avoid saggy butt?

Depends on your preference. I never ran spacers on my LGT wagon even with pinks on it.

In the car game, everything is a compromise for the most part. Epics will not be as stiff and yield a better ride, but at the expense of that crisp handling etc.

So it is more of a personal decision as to what setup is best for you. Our usual suggestion is Pinks are only for hard-core folks who drive hard all the time and/or track their car as the ride is significantly stiffer.

I've just ordered the HDs but I'm wondering if I'm making the wrong choice here.

I haven't picked springs yet.

Roads here aren't full of potholes, but there's a lot of manhole covers and drains that aren't flush with the road surface, dips and bumps from where tree roots have shifted the pavement, etc...

What factory suspension might the HDs/Pinks be comparable to? Cars I've driven include a 2013 Outback, 2013 Dodge RAM 1-ton, 2011 Mustang GT and I've found them all to ride well on our roads.

Define comfort.

Tires matter.

Personally, I think Bilstein HD's are more comfy than KYB, except for blown marhmellow rear KYB's...on a perfectly smooth road. But I'm in an Outback, so what do I know. Can't comment on Koni's, but the adjustability sounds like a plus.

I wouldn't be surprised if a bone stock spec B set of struts and springs wouldn't be cushier than a stock LGT setup...and should be direct bolt up....if you get the spec B tophats in the process.

Tough question. KYB IME has effective but unsophisticated damping... not very smooth on anything but the best roads. Koni is good in most situations but there is a certain combination of square-edged bump and road speed that really jars, regardless of the spring in use. Bilsteins seem buttery smooth by comparison but the big seals used in inverted struts mean springs with very low rates make seal stiction noticeable, so they beg for higher rates which again are uncomfortable on bad roads at low speeds.

In the end you figure out there is a minimum speed for comfort which increases with spring rate. I used to use inverted KYB struts and Vogtland springs on my old GF Impreza... awesome at high speeds but death to kidneys under 80kph. On my cuurent GH8 I have Konis and OE GRF springs... very good comprise.

Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs.

Epics will likely be your most comfortable and won't drop you to the point that you lose the stroke on the HDs.
