Group N engine mounts on NA 2.5?

Recommended Posts

I have already installed the Group N transmission mount and pitch stop. What do I need to know to install the engine mounts on my 2.5 NA OB? I've been told by one vendor that in addition to the mounts themselves (which include a metal back plate) that I'd need another plate for it to work on my engine. I've been told by another vendor that it won't fit at all. Anyone willing to share their firsthand experience would be very much appreciated.

You have the later style oil-filled plastic engine mounts. To fit the GrpN parts, which are for a GDB Impreza, you need the original steel plates which are bolted to the engine on those cars.

Parts 11 and 13. You don't normally get these with the mounts because a GDB will already have them.

OK, I understand that. In this picture, aren't these the plates that I would need?

Those certainly look like the ones I installed, yes.

Oh, a little tip for you. If you feel after install the vibration at idle is unacceptable, put the stock pitch-stop back on. The GrpN one transmits a lot of noise into the bulkhead, and honestly doesn't seem to do anything for driveline stiffness compared the motor/trans mounts.

Not really, only done these on Imprezas. Nothing complicated. You might want to drop one end of the pitch stop to make it easier to jack the engine enough to swap the mounts out.
