Scooby Fan
Thanks for the further suggestions.....here is the situation at this point. The battery is a top quality after market product...$230 The battery has been tested numerous times..always good The tests are all being done with a good digital multi meter which is brand new...the readings all mimic the ones I got with my older meter. Unless I have bought multiple "Bad" batteries that cannot be tested to show the problem..........combined with multiple "Bad" meters....including the ones at Subaru...I have to feel the problem is in the car somewhere and has yet to be discovered. I appreciate all the good suggestions but they are all the things I already knew to do and have done. The search continues.
Scooby Fan
Problem solved.....no idea what it was but after I did a second neg side mA test and pulled fuses one at a time.........the issue just disappeared ....no more excessive draw down. Maybe just moving the fuses was all it needed to chase the gremlin away
compsurge
That could be indicative of a short. Make sure everything is properly seated and there are no signs of any electrical current damage (burns, etc.)

AndrewZ
Hey gang, Can anyone shed light on what accessories are powered by the 20A small fuse labelled "BACKUP" in the fuse panel under the hood? When I pull it out my current draw goes from 220mA to 5mA
