hukne001
So starting last week on friday I noticed a burning smell and found that there was white smoke coming out of the wastegate. The very first time I noticed it there was something coming out of the wastegate as well we wiped it off and it hardened on the rag so was thinking possibly some plastic. It hasn't oozed anything else as of yet. The smell comes everytime I drive the car now whether I boost or not. Under 500 miles on new oil change and oil level is just fine. Need some help figuring out what to do. Thanks
ripemeat
check you cv boot coming out of the tranny, the boot could've broke and spewed grease everywhere.

hukne001
So I did a quick look over and couldn't really see anything wrong with the cv boot I will look again more thoroughly when I have the chance to jack it up either tomorrow or Saturday. There has been a 'wet appeal' to that area ever since I have been noticing this smell so possible grease could be the problem, anything else I should look for if it's not the cv boot when I get the car up? robitrice
does it smell like burning plastic or oil? or does it have a sweet smell? generally white smoke relates to coolant and the sweet smell almost means coolant burning every time. hukne001
The burning smell just stopped. my coolant is a little low but not low enough to matter but I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can't figure it out if it comes up again. Thanks guys
ripemeat
it sounds like the coolant hose/clamp underneath the turbo may be seeping causing drips of coolant onto the uppipe and burning off...
eljefe1981
Mine is doing similar, I get this nasty burning oil coming into the vents inside the car. I check the oil levels but I get nothing. The other day I left my kids in the car for a moment and my son told me he saw some smoke coming from the scoop.
