Gelacy
You're right, the Prius blows it out of the water Lol, hey. There's nothing with the Prius. It's just a car. I was thinking more of the 2012-13 Toyota Highlander hybrid when it came to 0-60 MPH times. Unfortunately the AWD system on it is horrible though. GEE-OTTO
Well Subaru didn't market the Tribeca, so now they're reaping the rewards of no advertising: low sales. Low sales dictate low future investment, which dictates either sharing costs with another vehicle or terminating production. I'm hopeful that, if they do end up sharing a platform with the Highlander, they will at least give it Subaru character. Now if they produced a Tribeca STI (or tS), demand would no doubt increase. Toyota sucked all character out of our brand. However the 13' BM looks damn good!
hmmrdwn
I wouldn't say the Tribeca was hideous, it was just innocuous. The styling caused it to be virtually invisible. The tribeca had all the numbers going for it, but after the vagina grill when it was introduced, it was doomed. It was like the second coming of the Edsel. Too bad, because it was a great suv. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qu-ovgXFWO0/T1GDbl7ZKvI/AAAAAAAABdk/k6lpovZE1dQ/s1600/1958_Edsel_Citation.jpg http://cdn3.worldcarfans.co/2006/5/medium/7060517.002.1M.jpg
ehsnils
I would say that it's almost a straight copy of the Saab 93B front: (I hope the hotlink works) http://peacetek.net/saab-93/1959-saab-93b-tomato1.jpg
SBT
Andreas Zapatinas' nod to Alfa Romeo design but meant to evoke a throw-back to FHI's aircraft manufacturing roots - or so the corporate line would go. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -
SubieDriver
Subaru was already moving toward the airplane-themed grille before they brought on Zapatinas.
SBT
Zapatinas started with Subaru full-time in 2002 but collaborated with them before that while he was still working with Chris Bangle at BMW. If the airplane theme started before Zapatinas, then it saw it's most blatant evocation came during his 2002-2006 tenure when he further integrated his Subaru "spread wing grille" vision elements with his previous Alfa-type styling treatments. Meh at best, polarizing at worst. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -
The B4
Fuore Design out of Spain pinned the Tribeca and its version the airplane grille. Zapatinas was only around to do the interior on the Tribeca. Zapatinas designed the R1, B9 Scrambler, and integrated the airplane grille into the 06 Impreza. The other airplane grilles (R2, B9 Tribeca, and B11S) were not his work. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

The B4
I liked the cars he penned himself. Apparently FHI's engineering focus clashed with his ability to style the cars. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SBT
Given Subaru's propensity to over-engineer everything, strongly lean toward an engineering clash - function over form...FHI engineers 1, design team - 0 - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -
