lieutenantcolumbo
There's a couple of write ups on making your OBD connection automatically turn on / off with the ignition, so I am not going to totally reinvent the wheel. Here's the one I used: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t155381-diy-accessport-scangauge-hardwiring.html I basically followed these steps, but ended up having to tie pin 16 into the relay. I tried the ground as mentioned in the write up, but my AccessPort stayed on. The other change I made was using the OCP Cable. It's more expensive, but I wanted to be able to put all the wiring under the dash and still have OBD connection in the original location. Plus I didn't want any big connection hanging out under my dash. Here's the link: http://www.ocp.com/product_search/search_product_detail.php?item_num=11760-03-316-02 The connector wasn't quite a direct fit, but all I had to do was slightly Dremel some cut outs at the four corners highlighted in picture #3. Then the connector snapped right into the original plastic mounting bracket. Stock connector will snap back in and fit fine if you go back to stock. End result is hardwired AP that goes on/off with ignition, OBD connecter remains in original location, no big connection hanging down under the dash, and happy feet. Ignore the dirty carpet, I have a new black carpet and console I'm going to install as soon as I can move our basement junk back out of the garage.
