2manysubies
Doing a 3rd gear pull for the tuner, seems the data stops just before 4000 rpm, what am I doing wrong? Tried it 3X, see attached log. romraiderlog_20120814_175558.csv
I Donated Too laff79 Posted August 15, 2012 I Donated Too Share Posted August 15, 2012 bad cable is usually the culprit. ebay vagcom?
GTTuner
E-bay or vag-com cable is notorious for this. Bite the bullet and get a Tactrix 2.0 open port.
Moderators BarManBean Posted August 15, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 15, 2012 Buy the cable on amazon, I've been abusing it for a while now and it seems to hold up well. iNVAR
not sure if it's the cable. i used to have cut out problems with my cable many years back. i'm still using the same cable now. i don't kniow when it stopped cutting out, but it did sooo... it's been suggested that it could be a bad ground in the car somewhere, or the battery might be on its way out the door because under WOT, your alternator is shut off. fishbone
It's the cable. I had this problem too, until I bought the "correct" cable, which was an Autonostics VAG-Com. The OBD connector is blue plastic and the cable is transparent with silver shielding.

2manysubies
The Battery is brand new, Optima Red, a quatrillion cranking amps, and I did load test it. The charging system is 14.11 VDC with max load on, My Cable is the Blue one, silver shielding under blue translucent coating, chip in OBD side labeled FTDI, cable PN 69-08000-005... oops, I found the problem... "Made in China" Guess I'll be buying a Tactrix 2.0!! Oddly enough, the log stops at exactly the same RPM every time, while I'm waiting for the cable, I'm gonna try a pull starting at 3800rpm, see if it will log the high side rpm range.
